"Opera" is the plural of "opus" so that's OK Murray Just discovered, by doing the sensible dictionary thing which I should have done in the first place, that opera as a singular noun can mean pains, exertion or labour...so work it is then... And temero, -are is a verb too... meaning to defile etc...so with a bit of imagination and bad scribal copying and stuff then temet could have been interpreted as a verb...esp when things started being copied by non-clerics...(but would actually be temerat I think) Maybe EJ was more right than we first thought... :o) xxxx |

From: CapriUni Date: 21 Jan 02 - 11:00 AM Comment on this whole thing in general: Yes... but so many of the 'words' produced are really proper names (my last name is relatively common enough, it seems, for it to count as a 'word' -- one anagram that came up was simply last name first and first name last). My suspicion is that this generator simply looks for words copied out of a stored dictionary: obscure inventors, abreviations, and all. What would happen if we applied the rules of Scrabble [tm] to this exercise (no words that are always spelled with a capital letter, and no abrevations))? I know I'd get a shorter list, but one with a higher percentage of phrases that make sense. |

But try it with three words (set the "Number of Words" to 3) and you'll find a lot of nice things. I don't understand everything but you get nice words like honey, enjoy, noble! Oh noble joy! ;-) You can also get some nice things from Smallpiper. Simpler pal or smiler papl... but I don't really know how you understand those things. Some words can mean many different things in Swedish... As for me, if I may use my Swedish name, Berit Nilsson, in an English anagram I think I'd like Insolent ribs or perhaps Inborn stiles or...
