Well, I've never asked a question that hasn't gotten at least a dozen answers. As I get smarter about music I realise that most of the answers are RIGHT too!

I like it because most of the 'Catters come out with stuff that is pretty close to what the voices in my head keep saying.

Especially the Hamsters.

Only written down.

Don't be too hard on Shatner, him and his mates did give us Tribbles.

Now Tribble balls..

It truly is a slice of life with diversity without adversity. It's real and it's in real time. I have an actual Cafe in my office that never closes which is filled with people knowledgeable on any subject you care to broach, let alone tunes. I can visit, I can participate, I can leave.

I like the kind and generous folk... it truly is a slice of life.

I like the way a thread asking what like about Mudcat ends up discussing hamsters - that's just like my conversations with friends in real life.

I also like the way a thread asking about some obscure song will come up with the lyrics, singers, MIDI and then move on to the detailed background, alternative versions and its relationship to a host of other stuff.

Truly, the Mudcat would be poorer if it only had one of those.

By the way, Spaw and Vaughn Bode aren't the only people around obsessed with the subject of attacks on people's balls...

Stephen King can't seem to leave it alone either. There's virtually always an incident in any Stephen King story where something horrible happens to someone's balls.

It's really an odd fixation, if you ask me. Anyone got a psychological explanation for it?

No! No! Not that filthy, disgusting piece of smegma, Cheech Wizard! I can never let the mention of Cheech Wizard pass without stating how much I loath that scumbag. I could really relate to the time his lizard helper was sent to retrieve the famous hat, and beat it up and pissed on it before bringing it back to the egomaniac Cheech. No fate would be too awful for Cheech Wizard, no end too grisly, no humiliation too extreme. Cheech Wizard, rot in perdition!

Just had to say it.

On the other hand...Nancy, Mark Trail, and Mary Worth? LOL! Sounds like death by terminal boredom.

...nawwww, weird would be tolerating hamster gnawing.

(but REAL weird would be getting thru one thread without gratuitous damage to someone's balls, 'spaw...did you OD on Cheech Wizard comix at some point in your checkered career?)

I enjoy bantering in the political threads, reading the music threads (because I can't contribute much in that area), but mostly it is the ineraction with people I have begun to think of as friends (even if we don't agree on politics).

Bill D. said: "me, I'd love to lock Willian Shatner in a room with Bob Dylan, give them each a hamster, and instruct them to discuss Economic Democracy...then I'd film it and make Little Hawk watch it on TV every day.

(but I have a weirder sense of humor than most....)"

I don't think that's too weird Bill. Weird would be if the hamsters gnawed on their balls as they talked about the Euro.

Dylan would doubtless spurn Shatner's advances, superciliously clinging to his conviction that the latter never really UNDERSTOOD "Mr. Tambourine Man", when the fact is (as both The Captain AND the hamsters know) that his immortal interpretation was the only one that truly captured its real ESSENCE; after all, who could better realte to that "magic swirling ship"?

Post - Top - Home - Printer Friendly - Translate

Subject: RE: BS: What I *LIKE* about the Mudcat
From: Little Hawk

I suspect Dylan would be entirely uncooperative in such a situation and refuse to discuss economic democracy or anything else. Shatner, I'm sure, would find something to talk about...he's seldom at a loss for words. He would probably talk about himself, and try to get Dylan's reaction to his cover of "Mister Tambourine Man". The hamsters would roam around endlessly, searching the floor for food...that's what they do. If they encountered one another (which they soon would) there would probably be a nasty fight, and Shatner would most likely try to break it up and get bitten.

This would prompt a whole lot of bad language from Shatner and a brief snicker or two from Dylan.

Economic democracy would probably never come into the situation at all.

Sounds boring to me, but I would watch it just to see Dylan, but not every day...maybe every 3 or 4 days.

The camaraderie, the humour, the information, the people, the insults, the compliments, the insider jokes, the discussions, the new friends made, the new enemies whom one never gets to meet (mostly GUESTS), the serious discussions, the witticisms, and above all the CHARACTERS! Best time I've ever had at a keyboard.

Tapping in to smart arses.
Sometimes appearing to be a smartarse.
Picking up usefull/useless information.
Reading other catters secrets.
Reading varied, and mostly intelligent, opinions.
Crossing cultural and national divides.
Getting links to all sorts of fun stuff.
Not having to stand in line when I wish to be heard.
Getting a superior feeling when I don't reply to idiots/flamers.
It's always there, when I need an old friend.
That's the first ten I could come up with.........
No doubt I will think of more after I've posted.

Hey, this is more like it! I've only been in the pond a couple of months, and the "What I don't like about Mudcat thread" got tiring real fast. I like the seemingly endless information you can get on the Cat when you post a thread. Even if some of it is made up. I like the concern that people have for others... often strangers. And all the wise-ass stuff, too.

I was just thinking, in reading the speedily resolved quest for "I Can Hew", that one of the things I like best here is having so many like-minded people who enjoy he same things & are so willing to share their substantial bodies of knowledge on topics dear to our collective hearts.

Whenever I check in here I feel I've had a visit with friends, and I always have an opportunity to learn something new!

I also like the dirty jokes.
