Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Would You Like to Learn to Dance From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Jul 16 - 10:51 PM The Harry Fox Agency's songfile.com Website verifies that Steve Goodman was the songwriter. He recorded it, and it's also sung by Mary Travers on the Peter Paul and Mary Such Is Love album. It was also recorded by Jackie DeShannon on her 2005 Jackie album. Josh White, Jr., recorded it, too. -Joe- |

Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN TO DANCE From: GUEST,Billy Date: 30 Jan 02 - 12:58 AM From the album "Steve Goodman" This is exactly as Steve recorded it. The story I heard was that he was in a restaurant and got up from his table and got in the path of a waitress. They both moved the same way, stopped, move the other way and Steve said "Would you like to dance?' Returning to his table, he began to jot down the lines for the song. WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN TO DANCE D AWould you like to learn to sing? I can teach you that Here's an old tune that's good for the start You can sing all the high parts if you really try And I'll play along the tune on my guitar And then we'll sing together for a little while Let the harmony go ringin' in your mind And you sing so much better when you sing with a smile All the notes come out so sweet and high. All the notes come out so sweet and high. Would you like to learn to love? Well, that's somethin' else again I can show you how to sing and smile and dance Oh, I have no key to open your heart And no way that I could make you take the chance. And so we'll dance around the room again And we'll sing a tune or two to pass the time And smile a lot and if you really want to We can try a little lovin', I don't mind Try a little lovin', I don't mind. I don't mind. |
