just saw a message out on Alt.faires.renaissance about the CD you told us about in November. How's it going?

*blushing*

Gee... shucks...

Well, actually, as of Sunday we've finished up and are heading into mixing over the next few weeks. I've been asked not to reveal the full set list (we're trying to keep our fans in suspense), but it's a mix of original tunes and traditional pieces. The traditional include songs like "Mingulay Boat Song", "Look at the Coffin (Isn't it Grand)", "Old Maui" and a few others.

Hopefully it'll be done by mid March, and I'm hoping to get a copy to send in for a Mudcat radio, if there is another...

M

I'm the New Guy, so I don't know how much that counts...

But we should have the CD available from both Jester's Court and Celtic Rose, as well as at the events we play at - usually the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, South in sunny Devore, California.

It's a definite new experience - this being our third CD, and my joining early in the recording process, I've had a fairly unique view of it all. Hope that when it comes out, everyone enjoys!

Hee hee hee...

I'll try and post if we end up doing another weekend guest shot at RPFN. Right now we're concentrating on our upcoming 7 weekends at RPFS, so it's not on the top of our discussion list...

The more shows the merrier, though!

Yes, and please please please play for more than the three day weekend opening! I can never make that one! Melani, is the site secured yet? Lost my free place to stay, will be looking for camping there.

I know nothing now that I did not know at the end of last year. The new site is supposed to be north of Vallejo, and, as always, is the Land of Milk and Honey, with trees and 10-20 degrees cooler than Vacaville (but then, most places are). And someday, maybe three years or so, a permanent guildhouse with a flush toilet and disabled-access shower. Gee, I can hardly wait. Optimist that I am, I keep hoping that this time it will be for real. Anyway, any site will be nicer if you guys can make it.

Keep watching sources for more info - the American Valley site doesn't look good at the moment. I don't *think* that they've officially scuttled the idea, but I do know that it's been stated that it's not looking good due to permit requirements.

Why can't anything ever be SIMPLE?

Last I heard (October), American Canyon was their "only chance." I have also heard that Kevin Patterson is planning a three-weekend Northern Faire and has a site for it. Aren't Faire rumors fun?

3 weeks? Now, that is one of the better rumours have heard this season!

I've seen a few definite references to the upcoming Novato faire - http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/PK/main/pos/pdf/agendacomminmay01.pdf is a URL for what appears to be a Marin Parks Meeting agenda. I can't get it to work, unfortunately.

The AYLI site itself isn't currently showing the event, but I did also find the Mayhawke Armory page listing a VERY definite sounding confirmation of the event, weekends 9/28-10/13. From friends working the Dickens festival over Christmas, they informed me that AYLI had also announced it as being a 'definite' in the weekly newsletter.

I'm hoping it works out well for them - I know at other events they've brought on a few of the 'old guard' singing groups that for whatever reason were either cut from or decided not to appear at the REC events. Were they to actually do shows down in my neck of the woods, I'd likely be at them as well.

Oh well!

M
