Vegetarian Curry (different to the chicken curry, he's a stickler for these things) Expect to pay £4.50. All the above are served with rice. Beer is optional, and extra. I am told it is a session beer, but I also know the brewers "sessions", so beware. Having worked in the brewery for a short time, I can thoroughly reccomend Flagship ales, they aint killed me yet. Kay & I hope to arrive early Friday eve, traffic permitting, and after a bed inflating workshop, will be looking for action (song, dance, ale. not necessarily in that order). Should we all wear name-tags, in case we forget who we are?(or are found wandering in SS). |

I didn't get to talk to many (too many loud "boxes"!)but I was impressed by the singers and musicians altho' not my usual style. They weren't even put off by my out-of-tempo washboard playing. Despite the injunction brought against me by the Health and Safety Executive I did give the occasional toot on the kazoo (must have been the odd half of Spitfire!). I also broke my New Year resolution and "sang" once,(sorry, guys) but in mitigation I had been tipped the wink it was time to empty the bar to encourage people to get back to York House. As far as I know it was written by Pete Twitchett who used to run the Croydon Folk Club, in days of yore, when it was at "The Waddon". I might as well post it so that anyone else who wants it (Vectis ?) can pick it up. I'll also PM it to Dick Greenhaus to see if he can add it to the DT version. Then all of a sudden, in the firemen rushed, And they saved us one by one. But when they came to save the booze, they found it had all gone. And when the fire was reported in the papers the next day. They said they found no booze at all - It must have all boiled away ! The fire really did happen many years ago at "The Dun Cow" in The Old Kent Road. It was feared that several drinkers had perished in the fire, until they were found floating in the cellar, which was Half full of water, all in advance states of intoxication. |
