Subject: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 04 Feb 02 - 03:55 PM o.k... so maybe, just maybe I'm biting off WAY more than I can chew, but I gotta try right.... Looking for some tunes here... guitar tab, or I guess sheet music that I can have someone help me with... The first one is "The March Of The Dogs"... The 2nd, "The 5 Pound Flute & Reels"... one called "Donald McLennan's Exercise" and the other "What Pain I Have Endured Since Last Year"... they might be trad... they most likely are not... The third is for you folks who KNOW the OBD music... The fiddle bit that is repeated in "Barnyards Of Delgaty"... any idea if it's a tune of it's own? If it has a name, I'd love a copy of that too... So, folks... any help you can offer up is most appreciated... .-) |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: MMario Date: 04 Feb 02 - 04:50 PM Clinton - there are several freeby programs that will render ABC files as sheet music. Not to mention Pavane's program which will read both ABC and Songwright files. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Sorcha Date: 04 Feb 02 - 04:58 PM Uh, no, I sent it to 2snag@icqmail.....want me to resend to the above one? |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Metchosin Date: 04 Feb 02 - 05:19 PM Clinton, March of the Dogs is not by Old Blind Dogs, its a piece written by my brother Russ for his chihuaha, Butch and my dogs, Old Wort and Maddy the scouce bitch. The Walter Bodega Band does the mp3 that you have. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 04 Feb 02 - 05:21 PM Sorch... that ICQmail addy should read write2snag@icqmail.com but if you have to resend it, please send to sword@swordforhire.org Ta! |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Metchosin Date: 04 Feb 02 - 05:28 PM Why does something written by my brother make you sore afraid, Clinton. He's a great guy. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Sorcha Date: 04 Feb 02 - 05:47 PM He wants the sheet music, Mets, and if it's copyrighted it probably won't be found on line--I believe that is what he is "sore afraid" of. Perhaps your brother could get him the sheet music? (grin) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 04 Feb 02 - 05:52 PM "it probably won't be found on line" exact-a-mundo! |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Metchosin Date: 04 Feb 02 - 11:11 PM Just spoke to Russ and he said he is honoured that someone else wants to do March of the Dogs. He has the tab for it at work which he says you are welcome to have, which he will send to me tomorrow so I can send it to you Clinton. He thinks Jaunty may have written sheet music for it, at one time too, but he isn't sure that it still exists, but he will check that out too. Unfortunately their webpage is down for upgrading at the moment or I would have sent you the link.
There is nothing in the liner notes of the CD to indicate what tune was used for the break for the Barnyards of Delgaty. Rumour has it that the OBD has broken up. If its true it is a loss, oh well, Walter Bodega's still going strong. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 04 Feb 02 - 11:16 PM Rumour?!?! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll gladly take that tab for March or sheet music or whatever ya can get me, metchie! Ta eh! |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Metchosin Date: 05 Feb 02 - 12:09 AM Don't thank me Clinton, thank Russ, I'm just the messenger. He could have been a jerk and told ya to f*** o**, some do. You could check out the rest of their first CD though, he's written some other great tunes, with more coming up on the next. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Metchosin Date: 05 Feb 02 - 12:24 AM Come to think of it, Galloping Goose/Beef to the Heel, Dark Eyes and March of the Dogs should be standard repotoire for all fiddle players. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 05 Feb 02 - 01:22 AM I have a bunch of their stuff off Morpheus, which is how I know that when I find the CD's I'll be buying them all! I just hope the break-up is an unfounded rumour! And do pass on ta to Russ for me eh Metch! .-) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 05 Feb 02 - 01:10 PM ker-bump, just in case... ;-) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: NicoleC Date: 05 Feb 02 - 01:53 PM Broke up?! They had better not. At least not before I get to see them at the end of March! |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 05 Feb 02 - 03:12 PM Ya! What NC said!!!!! LOL!!! |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 06 Feb 02 - 01:11 PM Quoted from the OBD's message board... "Old Blind Dogs are not breaking up. Paul is leaving to concentrate on Croft no.5 and the March tour will be his last with the band. The other members of the band are pursuing other projects as is healthy (Rory with NUSA and Deaf Shepherd, Jonny with various recording projects and Jim with his solo career) while continuing to work on new material for OBDs. See yooz on tour. Rory " So there ya have it eh... .-) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Metchosin Date: 06 Feb 02 - 01:14 PM A relief to know Clinton, I'll pass that on to Russ, he has been trying to make contact with them. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: BeauDangles Date: 06 Feb 02 - 01:17 PM There's a neat site called concertina.net that has something called the tune-o-tron. It let's you paste ABC's into a window and convert them into either sheet music or midid file. Very cool. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Some 3 tunes by Old Blind Dogs From: Clinton Hammond Date: 07 Feb 02 - 01:48 PM that is very neat BD... .-) |
