It's in the DT of course and we've had discussions about the "darkies are gay" versus the more PC language.

You can also get the "Official" version with a MIDI HERE

For what it's worth, here are my chords:

My Old Kentucky Home

In A1:
The sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home
'Tis summer, the darkies are gay,
The corn top's ripe and the meadow's in the bloom
While the birds make music all the day.
The young folks roll on the little cabin floor
All merry and happy and bright.
By 'n by hard times comes a-knocking at the door,
Then my old Kentucky home, good night.
A A7 D A/ AE B7 E E7/ A A7 D A/ A E7 A -
A A7 D A/ AE B7 E E7/ A A7 D A/ AD E A -

Chorus:
Weep no more, my lady,
Oh weep no more today.
We will sing one song for the old Kentucky home,
For the old Kentucky home far away.
A D A C#7/ D - A - (Dm)/ A A7 D A/ AD E A -

2. They hunt no more for the 'possum and the coon
On meadow, the hill and the shore.
They sing no more by the glimmer of the moon
On the bench by that old cabin door.
The day goes by like a shadow o'er the heart
With sorrow where all was delight.
The time has come when the darkies have to part
Then my old Kentucky home, good night.
Chorus:

3. The head must bow and the back will have to bend
Wherever the darky may go.
A few more days and the trouble all will end
In the field where sugar-canes may grow.
A few more days for to tote the weary load.
No matter, 'twill never be light.
A few more days till we totter on the road,
Then my old Kentucky home, good night.
Chorus:
Line Breaks <br> added.

A well-set-up website for Stephen Foster songs:
Foster
A lot of other material there as well.

Wow, didn't know all the formatting would be lost when I pasted it in. Guess that's just worthless garble. Sorry.

For some of the Foster song sites, see the links I posted HERE. Levy has the greatest sheet music collection of Foster available ("My Old Kentucky Home" is HERE).

If you're worried about the "Darkies" part, I heard Garrison Keillor sing it as "Tis summer, the clouds roll away".

Thanks every one. I tried to find it in the data base but must have looked in the wrong places. Thanks again, Charcloth

The DT has the title as "Old Kentucky Home;" it should be "My Old Kentucky Home, Good Night."
The entry is sloppy. Verses two and three are run together, and lines of these stanzas also are run together.
