Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 10 Feb 02 - 01:38 PM Back safe. Good weekend. And I hope the New Blue Clicky Clique "Friends of the Mudcat" will make it easier for us to help keep the Mudcat afloat. (And two people at the weekend bought copies of my CD, so that's nearly £20 of Mudmoney in the kitty.) |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST,Liz the Squeak who appears to have lost a co Date: 10 Feb 02 - 02:15 PM Amen to all that..... got home in time for Stig of the Dump to find a dead computer so have lost my cookie!!! I have a set of raffle tickets that I will post later, 6 prizes not claimed. The raffle made £102 for the Mudcat. I'm now cleaning cat puke off the floor of Andy's bedroom and trying to type on a wobbly stool in a manner definately NOT approved by any H&S Exec.. Now if only someone will tell me how to get my cookie back...... LTS |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Dead Horse Date: 10 Feb 02 - 02:18 PM Here's to killing several birds with one stone SONG OF A SEA DOG Well it's poor old rotten Bonzo Bonzo boys, Bonzo Yes it's poor old rotten Bonzo Bonzo me boys, Bonzo Bonzo was a scabby mutt. A pedigree he was anything but Bonzo was no spaniel. His name was not Nathaniel Bonzo was no hound dog. For he was just a brown dog He was no retriever. So don't let that deceive yer Bonzo was a loner. Hated by his owner His owner wanted a gun dog. But found he had a bum dog The thing that was absurd is. Bonzo was afraid of birdies A partridge or a plover. Would make him run for cover He tried his hand at rattin'. But soon he too packed that in For Bonzo was afraid of rats. Even ran away from cats Bonzo made his owner weep. I'll have that mongrel put to sleep When Bonzo met a lady hound. She'd sniff his bum and away she'd bound Tried to mate with a smelly old slipper. Got his pecker caught in the zipper So Bonzo had no babies. He finally died of scabies We didn't bury him off Cape Horn. Just dug a hole near the edge of the lawn His shroud was made of something cheap. That we found on the old dung heap Dug his grave with rusty trowel. Dogs nearby they did not howl Buried him in an old ruck-sack. Buried him deep so he don't come back In his box a rusty chain. To keep him from coming up again Lowered him down with the toe of a boot. And on his grave no cross was put Now Bonzo he is dead and gone. Bloody good job, says everyone Bonzo me boys, bonzo. Thanks to everyone that made it all so enjoyable, see you all soon, I hope. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Liz the Squeak Date: 10 Feb 02 - 02:22 PM Nothing is going right today, have got cookie back but lost page purple prose praising the organisers of the weekend. York House was the perfect venue and offered better facilities for singing (like room for everyone in one room!!!) and playing than many of the pubs did! Can we book it again for next year please? Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST Date: 10 Feb 02 - 02:26 PM Does anyone have any photos of the event? |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST,Julie B at home Date: 10 Feb 02 - 04:27 PM …Wow - what a lovely weekend. The impromptu Sunday afternoon singaround in the Crown (started by overflow refugees from a packed Vaults Bar at The Bull) finally wound up at around 4.30pm. I reached home half an hour later only to find that my other half, Nick, had discovered the hidden bucket of Maltesers (one of my raffle wins); needless to say, the supply is now severely depleted. Never mind; at least I still have my premium haggis to look forward to! Really nice to meet everyone Julie B |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Gareth Date: 10 Feb 02 - 04:36 PM Yes I have photo's - The negatives will be for sale, those who think they were compromised may make me an offer! More on the "Friends of the Mudcat" when my brain returns to working order ! (Acute alchol poisening) Gareth

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Lanfranc Date: 10 Feb 02 - 06:50 PM All the photos I took are disappointingly useless for blackmail purposes. Pity, I was going to donate half the proceeds to Mudcat! Saturday was great, sorry I missed Sunday. Well done, Dai and all! York House was a great venue - those who repaired to pubs only did so out of habit! Will post the piccies of the friends of blue clickies as soon as I figure out how. Any of my raffle tickets, Liz? They're upstairs, but I seem to recall they were in the 190s. Alan |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 10 Feb 02 - 09:28 PM I've put a file of the pictures up on a website - no captions, no cropping or processing, What You See Is What You Get - 21 pictures in all: Here is the file index |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: vectis Date: 10 Feb 02 - 09:40 PM A good venue, great company, The Crown extremely welcoming. Some locals friendly. See you all again soon. Thanks Dai for organising it for us. Regards Vectis |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 10 Feb 02 - 09:49 PM "Some locals friendly." Well, I certainly didn't run across any who weren't.
Nice place. Don't forget to remind us of the Stony Stratford mini-festival in June. It's clearly a place with a good local music scene.
And I liked the way in the Sunday session in the Bull all the different types of music hung in together (even if the bar was so crowded that most of the Mudcat singers slipped off for an extra session down the road.) |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST,JJ Date: 11 Feb 02 - 03:08 AM Thanks a lot for the photos, Kevin. DSCF0011.JPG (bottom right) is certainly one for a caption competition! JJ |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Steve Parkes Date: 11 Feb 02 - 03:24 AM What fun! Mrs P now thinks Mudcatters are a bunch of self-indulgent beer-swiling aging hippies. Damnn--I hoped she wouldn't find out! I still haven't worked out who many of you were (although everyone seemed to know who I was, to my great puzzlement). I'll scrutinise the photo's ... I'm sorry I couldn't make it on Sunday, but at least I managed to sing while going about my domestic chores. Steve P.S. There is an apostrophe in "photo's", since it's short for "photographss", so Yah Boo Sucks, Guest! |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Steve Parkes Date: 11 Feb 02 - 03:32 AM JJ, taht poic almost qualifies for "The Man Who Sang 'The Wild Rover' At The Crown", but not quite the right amont of horreur in the expressions. Steve |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: The_one_and_only_Dai Date: 11 Feb 02 - 03:35 AM Thanks to everybody for making a great weekend - you're all very charitable. I'm quite impressed that the chilli actually got eaten, well done lads, no ill effects I hope. Thanks to Steve and Lindy at The Crown, now a great pub under their leadership, for hosting the impromptu session on Sunday, well done catters for taking the initiative there. Sorry I couldn't make it, really... Anyway, it was great to meet you all at last, what a splendid bunch of people. Except for alan, who would insist on trying to teach my offspring how to play the concertina... ;-) I suspe3ct I'll never hear the last of that from Will, hehehe... Bob at York House would love to see us all again, but maybe not as soon as April, eh susanne? Thanks to everybody. More Beer next time...? |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Steve Parkes Date: 11 Feb 02 - 03:46 AM Sory about the thread creep here, but Liz obviously ran out of subject space when she posted as GUEST,Liz the Squeak who appears to have lost a co. York House is a great venue - let's have another event - when everyone has recovered from this one ! Thank you Jude for the words of Linda's song and the loan of the whip - well it was a good excuse to get her wearing the basque and fishnet's. Dave |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST Date: 11 Feb 02 - 04:40 AM Well, really enjoyed meeting everyone at the gathering, was a really nice gathering. Only sorry I couldn't stay awake longer -the rigours of end of financial year publishing rush and all the extra work I'm doing as a graphic designer, has really wiped out my energy. Top class awards to Jude who got Gareth to stop snoring, and even more top class awards to Dai for organising it all. Had a lovely time, thank you all Ella... aka Suze |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Fibula Mattock Date: 11 Feb 02 - 04:54 AM Herga Kitty - thanks for posting those lyrics in the other thread by the way! Ella - thanks for the lift. See - it was okay, they weren't the axe-wielding internet psychos we feared they might be, and the beards could've been a lot scarier! Now, time I got back to work, if I can stop humming "I'm glad, glad, very very glad, glad I'm a gladiator...". |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Ella who is Sooze Date: 11 Feb 02 - 05:02 AM nae problem, there were some terrific tankards though wuzn't there! I'd like the chichua (or however you damn well spell it) lyrics PLEASE! Yes, me and Fib were slightly concerned we'd have to utilise our black belt skills (Fibs are archaeology black belt skills) and mine are graphic design black belt skills. Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Steve Parkes Date: 11 Feb 02 - 05:32 AM My sister-in-law found a good way to stop my bro snoring. Debbie was complaining to hers-i-l Polly about Neil's nightly nasal nuke attacks, and Polly said her mum had told her to tie a bit of string around Wayne's willy (I kid you not), and it really worked. Well, on Deb's last birthday, Neil and Wayne went out to celebrate (Deb had to look after the kids); Neil came back stocious in the small hours, staggered up to bed leaving his clothes on the stairs, and hit the pillow snorting like a Black 5 going up Shap. Deb was contemplating murder, but remembered what Polly had told her. She couldn't find any string, but spotted the ribbon of one of her pressies, and tied it on as directed. It worked! Next morning, as Neil groped his way into the bathroom for the usual offices, Debbie called out, "Where the [expletive deleted] did you get to last night?" A bemused voice replied, "I dunno--but I won a prize!" |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Dave Bryant Date: 11 Feb 02 - 06:16 AM Apostrophe's (!) are popping up all over - it must have been something in the beer over the weekend. I promised Morticia the final verse to "The Old Dun Cow". As far as I know it was written by Pete Twitchett who used to run the Croydon Folk Club, in days of yore, when it was at "The Waddon". I might as well post it so that anyone else who wants it (Vectis ?) can pick it up. I'll also PM it to Dick Greenhaus to see if he can add it to the DT version. Then all of a sudden, in the firemen rushed, And they saved us one by one. But when they came to save the booze, they found it had all gone. And when the fire was reported, in the papers the next day. They said they found no booze at all - It must have all boiled away ! The fire really did happen many years ago at "The Dun Cow" in The Old Kent Road. It was feared that several drinkers had perished in the fire, until they were found floating in the cellar, which was Half full of water, all in advance states of intoxication. PS. Linda (she'll be using the handle "Smudge" by the way) wants to know how much it's going to cost her to keep the photos out of the "Sunday Sport" etc. - and was Micca really taking a movie ? |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: alanww Date: 11 Feb 02 - 06:52 AM Gee thanks, Dai ... What a wonderful weekend you arranged (but a pity you couldn't take more part in it). I particularly enjoyed meeting friends old and new - and the singing, music and drinking was bloody good too. Special mention must go to The Crown, which was very welcoming (even when they hadn't expected us on Sunday lunchtime) and beer was pretty good aswell. There were so many highlights! But my top two must be the stories of the guest Irish guy (now what was his name?), which were brilliant, as was his delivery and the singing of South Australia at breakneck speed with Kay (Mrs Dead Horse) dancing Appalation on the stage. Well done again, Dai! "Row on, row on another day" ... at Stony Stratford next year! |

Steve, If you're going to have a guitar with your name carved into it don't wonder why people know who you are. Guest, When complaining about misuse of punctuation please remember to start your sentences with capitals and end them with full stops.

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST Date: 11 Feb 02 - 07:54 AM I'm sorry manitas. I will try harder in future. I think that your name should start with a capital M. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Steve Parkes Date: 11 Feb 02 - 11:55 AM It's a shame the kazoo workshop was cancelled, although I appreciate how important the Friends of Mudcat meeting was that replaced it; I was looking forward to presenting an interim report on my on-going research into kazoo history. Maybe if I get tim to type it up, I'll post it--if anyone's interested? Steve |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Manitas_at_home Date: 11 Feb 02 - 02:00 PM Guest, that could be what's known as Skitt's Law. Invariably any post complaining about grammar, spelling or punctuation will contain at least one such error. However, only personal pronouns are capitalised and a pen name is impersonal. That's my excuse, anyway. |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Liz the Squeak Date: 11 Feb 02 - 03:37 PM Well, as promised, here are the winning numbers that weren't collected on Saturday night. You have to imagine a fanfare of kazoos between each one..... 35 70 228 267 277 and I think 177. I say I think, because I'm convinced the owner of this came forward, and chose a prize there and then..... if not, then it's a good job Eric wasn't there to collect his present, it will go in the prize pool. Prizes are: a bottle of bubbly, a bottle of beer, another bottle of beer, a Bert Hansell CD, a tin of Hawick balls and something else. Thanks to everyone who took part, either donating a prize, buying a ticket or being very patient whilst I called out 30 numbers with kazoo accompaniment!! It raised over £100, all profit for Mudcat. The kazoo workshop did actually happen, just not all in the same room at the same time.... they were a major part of the raffle as you've heard, participated in several of the tunes and songs and even shut Micca up! Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Herga Kitty Date: 11 Feb 02 - 08:13 PM Liz I have raffle ticket 277, in series FL1H SW4P. Good to know I haven't won my own CD back, even though it sounds from your earlier post that the prize may be balls (of some sort). |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Steve Parkes Date: 12 Feb 02 - 03:18 AM Dai: Tim is my son; I'll get Beckie (daughter, the arty one) to do the uillustrations.

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Tone d' F Date: 12 Feb 02 - 03:25 AM Well I emjopyed the few hours I was there Friday, new people to face my humour, unfortunate about the prior commitment but if you make one you should be committed. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Dave Bryant Date: 12 Feb 02 - 05:04 AM Hey - now that Stony Stratford's over, which thread are we UK "Catters" going to use to pass the time with trivia and mild social abuse etc. Either we start a permathread especially for UK folk gossip, scandal, and non-specific postings, or we get Dai to start a new thread for the NEXT Stony Stratford gathering as soon as possible. By the way Linda was unable to use SMUDGE as her new handle, coz someone already has it, so she has decided to use "Essex Girl" (no not E-sex Girl). If McGrath can admit coming from that county north of the Thames - so can she ! Dave |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: MudGuard Date: 12 Feb 02 - 06:58 AM Now that I had some hours of sleep: Three big Thankyous from me! First big Thankyou goes to Dai for organising this great event! Second big Thankyou goes to Liz, Paul (Manitas) and Phoebe (Bratling) for suffering my presence in their house and car and so making it possible for me to come to this great event. Third big Thankyou goes to everyone who was there for making the weekend this great event! Micca: Use your three prizes like this: drink the bottle of whiskey in one go. Now that your pain nerves in your mouth are slightly numbed, push the kazoo in as far as possible. Now use the duct tape to seal your mouth so the kazoo has no chance to get out again... ;-)

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Matthew Edwards Date: 12 Feb 02 - 07:59 AM What a wonderful weekend! It was good to meet so many Mudcatters in person again, and to hear so much enjoyable music, singing, and storytelling (welcome aboard the Mudcat Adrian O). I invited some friends and family to some of the sessions, and they were impressed by the quality of the musical talents, and the friendliness of the people they met. A lot of thanks to; Dai - for organising the event, and for cooking the chili. Bob Adams - for letting us use York House, and for his hard work of preparation. Gareth - for getting Friends of Mudcat off the ground. John Routledge - who first suggested a Gathering for early 2002. Steve and Lindy at the Crown - for being such welcoming hosts. People at the Sunday Vaults session - for letting us join in. And finally - everyone who came and joined in (even the kazoo players!) The donors of raffle prizes were very generous, and I have special cause to thank Giok for the bottles of Founder's Reserve Arran - it tastes wonderful! |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Dead Horse Date: 12 Feb 02 - 04:49 PM Morticia: So thats where the wifes kazoo went. Obviously looking for some action in the mating season. I should have the blighter "seen-to" by a vet(piano tuner?)if I was you. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: MudGuard Date: 12 Feb 02 - 05:15 PM Ok, some people complained about me for taking notes that weekend. Here is the result of my notes: The ultimate crossword for this meeting. Enjoy it (or ignore it). Whoever gave that Orange wine for a raffle prize: it was lovely - is the recipe secret or might I get it? Btw, with my big thankyous, I forgot the most important one: most important big thank you goes to Max - without him there would be no Mudgatherings at all... |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Gareth Date: 12 Feb 02 - 06:54 PM Err Just how did Jude stop me snoring ?? Whilst I have the odd bruise and ache I have no recolection of the incident ?? Gareth |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Tone d' F Date: 12 Feb 02 - 07:00 PM I've had a sketchy rendition of half a verse of the invisible cloak song, I could really do with the lyrics |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST Date: 12 Feb 02 - 07:03 PM Thanks for your crossword, Mudguard. Not having been there, it's difficult to complete. Is the answer to What many Mudcatters did many times during the meeting Fart? Whilst I'm here, I would like to say that Liz's comments about Terri's (Morticia's) beauty were mean and uncalled for. I think Terri is gorgeous, so there. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 12 Feb 02 - 07:49 PM Liz didn't say anything mean and uncalled for. Saying someone doesn't look like a sylph isn't mean. Who wants to look like a sylph anyway?
Anytime I come across anyone who looks sylphlike my feeling is that the poor little things look like they need a good meal. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: vectis Date: 12 Feb 02 - 08:28 PM I'll PM you the OJ wine recipe in the next few days Mudguard. Glad you enjoyed it and pleased your fingertips aren't too numb to trype wiv. Mary |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: vectis Date: 12 Feb 02 - 08:29 PM Wad Ye Gan Love parody has been sent to Aine now Murray has told me who wrote it. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: MudGuard Date: 13 Feb 02 - 03:27 AM Vectis, it was not only my opinion that the stuff was very good - a friend of mine liked it as well! MudGuard |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Ella who is Sooze Date: 13 Feb 02 - 04:16 AM Ha haaaa Mudguard. You reminded me about the thing I wanted to chide Dai about. Me and Fib were really confoozled when we got to the part of the directions that said... Next to the Peugeot dealership - we both decided that the garage that was actually there, was vaguely similar to the Peugeot car company - in that it was from the same country, we thought that must be the one. It was so funny. Top marks Dai for confoozling. Gareth, Jude got up and hissed at you to sleep on your side. BTW!!! I also have a bone to pick with you... Can you remember waking us up at around 3am ish by turning on ALL the strip lighting in the snooker room. grrrrrrrr! anyway, I said to Jude, it could be worse, you could be snoring out of key - and I think Jude was at the near to end of tether stage, and successfully got you to be quieter. (subliminal sleep messages are great). I promise - no batterings took place. Ella |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: JudeL Date: 13 Feb 02 - 04:41 AM Gareth: Don't know where you got your bruises from, but they are nothing to do with me. All I did was get as close to your ear as possible and whisper an order (ok it was more of a husky growl) "turn over and stop snoring" ... and you did. So the question remains what did you get up to and with whom to acquire the bruises? Jude |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Dave Bryant Date: 13 Feb 02 - 11:26 AM MUDGUARD - I think that you'll find that the clue for 22 across in your crossword should be "Person voted to post of treasurer at meeting" - the meeting was chaired by John Routledge. Perhaps 12 across should be "One of the Mudcatters who came from Harlow" - Linda (Essex Girl) originally comes from Harlow as well - although she keeps quiet about the fact as anybody, except Kevin McGrath, would. Great to meet you MUDGUARD - perhaps we might even get over to see you sometime. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: MMario Date: 13 Feb 02 - 12:45 PM song about an invisible cloak? |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Tone d' F Date: 13 Feb 02 - 01:42 PM Yes the only thing he could remember was that boys came in to try them on and are never seen again and something about folding them neatly and putting them on the counter now the counters dissapeared sounds right up my street |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Dead Horse Date: 13 Feb 02 - 01:56 PM Poem about invisible cloak, by Sir Les Barker. (Wot! Hasn't he been knighted yet?) I've got the words right here somewhere.......I put them down and can't seem to find them. DeadHorse (Wot ain't got no Etiquette!) |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Mrs.Duck Date: 13 Feb 02 - 02:11 PM Isn't that the one about the camouflage net? |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Noreen Date: 13 Feb 02 - 02:13 PM The song/recitation about the invisibility cloak was one of several Les Barker works in evidence over the weekend. I don't have the particular book containing that one, but obviously someone there did- was it Ms Liz? It was a lovely weekend, and I feel i have met some new friends, as has happened at every Mudcat gathering I have been to. An interesting selection of music and a lot of talent, wonderful singing and playing in a variety of styles, recitations (good man yerself Adrian!) and appalachian dancing from Kay. One of the highlights for me was in the Crown on Sunday lunchtime when Kay wanted to dance but we had no instrumentalists available: Kay suggested she could dance to South Australia (no she didn't really go that far) so long as it was fast enough... Wonderful! Thanks to Dai, and everyone who made it possible. Noreen |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: MudGuard Date: 13 Feb 02 - 02:54 PM Dave - sorry about misunderstanding the chairing issue. As Gareth talked most of the time I assumed (wrongly) that he was chairing... Might also have happened due to my limited understanding of the English language. And yes, you are welcome at Munich! MudGuard |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: John MacKenzie Date: 13 Feb 02 - 04:24 PM When I mentioned this site at the SSJ, a couple of people hadn't seen it on a previous thread, so here goes. Keep them laughing "Daddy's making us a kazoo, tomorrow".....Giok |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Gareth Date: 13 Feb 02 - 05:26 PM Ella, jude, and others concerned, my deepest appologies. And no I don't know where the bruises came from either. Gareth |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: John MacKenzie Date: 13 Feb 02 - 05:50 PM Gareth old mate, when I caught up with you as you were walking back to York House on Saturday eve, you were taking the grand circle route, along the pavement. Suggest a wall may have jumped out and grabbed you, while you weren't looking, causing contusions. There's bloody vicious them English walls are now, look you! *BG* Failte......Giok PS. Where's Stony Stratfird ? |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Willa Date: 13 Feb 02 - 07:06 PM Mrs Duck is right about the 'invisibility cloak', it's 'I Can't find my Camouflage Net', from 'An Infinite Number of Occasional Tables' |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Morticia Date: 13 Feb 02 - 07:24 PM No it isn't Willa, it's in Les' most recent book ( which I can't remember the name of) and is loosely based around the ubiquitous Harry Potter theme. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Tone d' F Date: 13 Feb 02 - 08:04 PM Giok your a star, the link was exceellent |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Feb 02 - 08:23 PM It is a sort of reworking of camoflage net, but it is a new poem, called 'I can't find my invisibility cloak' and is the latest book, 'Boogie woogie beagle boy from Company B', by the great Mr Les (Why aren't I Poet Laureate) Barker. I read it in the Bull on Sunday lunchtime, when we were told off for singing. LTS |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Tone d' F Date: 13 Feb 02 - 08:33 PM Cheers I'll get a copy, I'm really sorry I missed the weekend but hey there will be others |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Snuffy Date: 13 Feb 02 - 08:39 PM We weren't singing: we just couldn't find our camouflaged etiquette.
|
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Feb 02 - 08:50 PM Still no takers for the other raffle tickets.... I'm 5 prizes up (one of them a Bert Hansell CD) and the rest all drinkable or eatable, and I didn't even buy a ticket! I see that my comments are mean and uncalled for, yet GUEST can post on regardless... Hmmm.... something a bit off there, don't you think? I leave you to think about that one. LTS |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Ella who is Sooze Date: 14 Feb 02 - 03:54 AM ahh. Gareth no problem.. Or rather Dim problem... By the way did anyone else try that cider in the fox and hounds (the cloudy stuff). Well, it had me bouncing off the wall after one (descretely though - I managed to mask the fact I was almost half gone) but did you see what the stuff did to the tables? Within less than one minute of putting down the cider glass, it stained the table white as some cider had tipped out.... OH DEAR! E |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: The_one_and_only_Dai Date: 14 Feb 02 - 04:01 AM You mean you actually drank it? Blimey Ella, we use it for keeping weeds down... didn't you read the pump clip? ;-) |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST,Linda(a.k.a. Essex Girl) Date: 14 Feb 02 - 04:14 AM Dai, (and everyones else involved in organising the weekend), thanks for a great one. It must have been good - I lost my voice in the Bull on Sunday lunchtime and haven't got it back yet!(If anyone finds it I need it for this weekend). |

Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: Steve Parkes Date: 14 Feb 02 - 05:06 AM Let's carry on the discussion here. |
Subject: RE: After Stony Stratfird From: GUEST,Pete Twitchett Date: 18 Jan 03 - 05:13 PM Yes...Dave Bryant is right..I did write the final verse, but Dave's memory is a little shaky to the words. That listed doesn't scan! I wrote it 'coz the song didn't seem to have an ending. The verse is.. All of a sudden in the firemen rushed And they saved us one by one! But when they came to save the beer, They found it had all gone! And in the daily press next day They solomly* did say That they could not save the beer 'coz it had boiled away! (Spoken) But we know better don't we! Final chorus *Doesn't look as if it's spelled right does it! Best wishes, Pete |
