I got home an hour ago, brain still seething with images and songs.

I had a great time, met a load of people, and missed a few. Nobody told me RtS had been around whilst I was participating in a sleeping workshop!!

Wonderful, Wonderful music and musicians.

Thanks, Dai, for the hard work.

Cheers, Bron.

Back safe. Good weekend. And I hope the New Blue Clicky Clique "Friends of the Mudcat" will make it easier for us to help keep the Mudcat afloat. (And two people at the weekend bought copies of my CD, so that's nearly £20 of Mudmoney in the kitty.)

Amen to all that..... got home in time for Stig of the Dump to find a dead computer so have lost my cookie!!!

I have a set of raffle tickets that I will post later, 6 prizes not claimed. The raffle made £102 for the Mudcat.

I'm now cleaning cat puke off the floor of Andy's bedroom and trying to type on a wobbly stool in a manner definately NOT approved by any H&S Exec..

Now if only someone will tell me how to get my cookie back......

Here's to killing several birds with one stone
SONG OF A SEA DOG
Well it's poor old rotten Bonzo
Bonzo boys, Bonzo
Yes it's poor old rotten Bonzo
Bonzo me boys, Bonzo
Bonzo was a scabby mutt. A pedigree he was anything but
Bonzo was no spaniel. His name was not Nathaniel
Bonzo was no hound dog. For he was just a brown dog
He was no retriever. So don't let that deceive yer
Bonzo was a loner. Hated by his owner
His owner wanted a gun dog. But found he had a bum dog
The thing that was absurd is. Bonzo was afraid of birdies
A partridge or a plover. Would make him run for cover
He tried his hand at rattin'. But soon he too packed that in
For Bonzo was afraid of rats. Even ran away from cats
Bonzo made his owner weep. I'll have that mongrel put to sleep
When Bonzo met a lady hound. She'd sniff his bum and away she'd bound
Tried to mate with a smelly old slipper. Got his pecker caught in the zipper
So Bonzo had no babies. He finally died of scabies
We didn't bury him off Cape Horn. Just dug a hole near the edge of the lawn
His shroud was made of something cheap. That we found on the old dung heap
Dug his grave with rusty trowel. Dogs nearby they did not howl
Buried him in an old ruck-sack. Buried him deep so he don't come back
In his box a rusty chain. To keep him from coming up again
Lowered him down with the toe of a boot. And on his grave no cross was put
Now Bonzo he is dead and gone. Bloody good job, says everyone
Bonzo me boys, bonzo.
Thanks to everyone that made it all so enjoyable, see you all soon, I hope.

Nothing is going right today, have got cookie back but lost page purple prose praising the organisers of the weekend. York House was the perfect venue and offered better facilities for singing (like room for everyone in one room!!!) and playing than many of the pubs did!

Can we book it again for next year please?

…Wow - what a lovely weekend. The impromptu Sunday afternoon singaround in the Crown (started by overflow refugees from a packed Vaults Bar at The Bull) finally wound up at around 4.30pm. I reached home half an hour later only to find that my other half, Nick, had discovered the hidden bucket of Maltesers (one of my raffle wins); needless to say, the supply is now severely depleted. Never mind; at least I still have my premium haggis to look forward to!

Really nice to meet everyone

Saturday was great, sorry I missed Sunday.

Well done, Dai and all! York House was a great venue - those who repaired to pubs only did so out of habit!

Will post the piccies of the friends of blue clickies as soon as I figure out how.

Any of my raffle tickets, Liz? They're upstairs, but I seem to recall they were in the 190s.

"Some locals friendly." Well, I certainly didn't run across any who weren't.

Nice place. Don't forget to remind us of the Stony Stratford mini-festival in June. It's clearly a place with a good local music scene.

And I liked the way in the Sunday session in the Bull all the different types of music hung in together (even if the bar was so crowded that most of the Mudcat singers slipped off for an extra session down the road.)

What fun! Mrs P now thinks Mudcatters are a bunch of self-indulgent beer-swiling aging hippies. Damnn--I hoped she wouldn't find out!

I still haven't worked out who many of you were (although everyone seemed to know who I was, to my great puzzlement). I'll scrutinise the photo's ...

I'm sorry I couldn't make it on Sunday, but at least I managed to sing while going about my domestic chores.

Steve

P.S. There is an apostrophe in "photo's", since it's short for "photographss", so Yah Boo Sucks, Guest!

Thanks to everybody for making a great weekend - you're all very charitable. I'm quite impressed that the chilli actually got eaten, well done lads, no ill effects I hope.

Thanks to Steve and Lindy at The Crown, now a great pub under their leadership, for hosting the impromptu session on Sunday, well done catters for taking the initiative there.

Sorry I couldn't make it, really... Anyway, it was great to meet you all at last, what a splendid bunch of people. Except for alan, who would insist on trying to teach my offspring how to play the concertina... ;-) I suspe3ct I'll never hear the last of that from Will, hehehe...

Bob at York House would love to see us all again, but maybe not as soon as April, eh susanne?

Thanks to everybody. More Beer next time...?

Only sorry I couldn't stay awake longer -the rigours of end of financial year publishing rush and all the extra work I'm doing as a graphic designer, has really wiped out my energy.

My sister-in-law found a good way to stop my bro snoring. Debbie was complaining to hers-i-l Polly about Neil's nightly nasal nuke attacks, and Polly said her mum had told her to tie a bit of string around Wayne's willy (I kid you not), and it really worked. Well, on Deb's last birthday, Neil and Wayne went out to celebrate (Deb had to look after the kids); Neil came back stocious in the small hours, staggered up to bed leaving his clothes on the stairs, and hit the pillow snorting like a Black 5 going up Shap. Deb was contemplating murder, but remembered what Polly had told her. She couldn't find any string, but spotted the ribbon of one of her pressies, and tied it on as directed. It worked!

Next morning, as Neil groped his way into the bathroom for the usual offices, Debbie called out, "Where the [expletive deleted] did you get to last night?" A bemused voice replied, "I dunno--but I won a prize!"

Apostrophe's (!) are popping up all over - it must have been something in the beer over the weekend.

I promised Morticia the final verse to "The Old Dun Cow". As far as I know it was written by Pete Twitchett who used to run the Croydon Folk Club, in days of yore, when it was at "The Waddon". I might as well post it so that anyone else who wants it (Vectis ?) can pick it up.
I'll also PM it to Dick Greenhaus to see if he can add it to the DT version.

Then all of a sudden, in the firemen rushed,
And they saved us one by one.
But when they came to save the booze, they found it had all gone.
And when the fire was reported, in the papers the next day.
They said they found no booze at all - It must have all boiled away !

The fire really did happen many years ago at "The Dun Cow" in The Old Kent Road. It was feared that several drinkers had perished in the fire, until they were found floating in the cellar, which was Half full of water, all in advance states of intoxication.

PS. Linda (she'll be using the handle "Smudge" by the way) wants to know how much it's going to cost her to keep the photos out of the "Sunday Sport" etc. - and was Micca really taking a movie ?

Gee thanks, Dai ... What a wonderful weekend you arranged (but a pity you couldn't take more part in it). I particularly enjoyed meeting friends old and new - and the singing, music and drinking was bloody good too. Special mention must go to The Crown, which was very welcoming (even when they hadn't expected us on Sunday lunchtime) and beer was pretty good aswell.

There were so many highlights! But my top two must be the stories of the guest Irish guy (now what was his name?), which were brilliant, as was his delivery and the singing of South Australia at breakneck speed with Kay (Mrs Dead Horse) dancing Appalation on the stage. Well done again, Dai!

"Row on, row on another day" ... at Stony Stratford next year!

Guest, that could be what's known as Skitt's Law. Invariably any post complaining about grammar, spelling or punctuation will contain at least one such error. However, only personal pronouns are capitalised and a pen name is impersonal. That's my excuse, anyway.
