well I am not really new though I don't post all that ofton. My name is Marian and I am addicted to music, oh wait sorry wrong meeting lol. I do love all types of music, I don't really play an instument , i am trying to learn guitar but not doing so well. I have been writing songs since I was about 12 or 13. I live in northern Indiana and have 9 children. Well I guess that is probally more then you would want to know, but hey how esle are you gonna know who I am lol mmm

RUSTIC: First of all, as a relative newcomer myself, welcome. I like your sense of humor enough to let you know what I, as a man, have discovered about men. Now some men will jump in and say that I'm wrong but deep down inside, these men just haven't yet grasped the reality of their own denial. So here it is in a nutshell (no pun intended...): A man will do or say something stupid or embarrassing every day of his life. There, the cat is out of the bag. It took me years to figure this out but it holds true for all men, denial or not... Well, maybe not those in coma's but if they were to snap out of the coma tomorrow, you can bet they'd get caught up on their arrearages right quick. Now some men will wake up in the morning and say to themselves, "Today is the day I'm not going to do anything dumb," and then they go thru the day with their tummy all twisted up and still say or do some stupid thing. Now, since ol' bobert figured this out many years ago, I just got out and get it over with, like being the first in line for the flue shot. Yep, no twisted tummy, no anxiety, just DO IT. Allow me to introduce myself- I'm a bitch, I'm a liar, I'm a sinner-- no wait --that's Allanis or somebody.Actually some folks might say I'm a bitch when they read some posts only because I seem to have some kind of funky sense of humor,dry and dark at times, but in light of that I just say Hey, better to have some kind of humor than none at all. So now that you all know I am some kind of wannabe stand up comedian, I actually have more interest in Blues. I play some kind of strange way about me guitar, I play harmonica (known as Shaky Legs Sue) I have attempted pal talk but so far I'm not configured right or something, but I will keep trying. I write a lot of strange music. Blues and what I want to call contemporary folk. I write a lot of humorous men bashing songs, and don't get me wrong I love men, they just seem to be a good thing to write about. Oh the evils of some men! (People try to talk me into writing love songs and they come out, Oh how I'll 'LOVE' it when your lying in your grave!) What did I tell you about the sick humor in me. Anyway enough. Danged, ol' hillbilly Bobert did just kind of barge into the Catbox with out saying, "Hey". Like Rolfy, Iz from over at Tweedsburg where we on occasion talk about blues. A couple a' months back, Spawzer stopped by Tweezerburg and found me duct taped to a nasty potty chair. Well, he lent me a box cutter that he got at the airport gift shop and after I cut myself loose asked Spawzer if he knew of agood place to hide out and so he told me about this joint. Well, the first thing I did was start this "Department of Peace" thread which I now know was trolling. Maybe that's why they kept duct taping the poor ol' bobert's butt to stuff at Tweeds. Since lewarning what a troll is here in Catland, I have tired to do less of it, however me and poor ol' DougR got into it purdy good over the Bushman, which was not too good for a recovering troller. My musical background is nasty rock-n-roll, country rock, country, folk and most recently blues which which now occupies most of my musical life, and for which I owe the folks at Tweeds a big thanks for their patience and sharing of their knowledge. I'd like to also welcome Pooka and the other folks, who like myself, have wandered in and also ask the patience of the more seasoned Catters when we ask questions or make comments about stuff that occured before we got here. Well, I'm gonna jump on the band wagon too. I've been around for a few months,have asked for help and received it just as quickly and am very grateful for it. I'm not and expert of anything but my love of music is pretty wide and deep. All types of music have been in my life so I do not have preferences. Currently I sing in a band that plays 50's and 60's music and I love it. Have been on the circuit for 30+ years locally so that probably dates me. *BG* Anyway, just wanted to say that I think Mudcatville is the best place around for friendship, help ,a shoulder, whatever. For Norton-1 especially, but all; no, "HuwG" isn't code for "hug". I should perhaps have written it as "Huw G", but as with the ceremony some forty years ago where they tried to drown me in a birdbath in church, I'm stuck with the name now.

My real name usually comes back to me as, "Huw Janus", or perhaps, "Huw Jampton".

BTW, I'm from the thriving musical centre of the High Peak district in Derbyshire in the UK; play folk and blues with enthusiasm but not much finesse as yet, on a Yamaha acoustic picked up from a pawn shop.

Hey all, this is great! I never even thought of doing an introduction thing, when I discovered allay'all I just jumped in to make an auction bid. I was going to just lurk but the temptation to post was too great, resistance was futile and I just self-assimilated. In the process I was spontaneously welcomed by many of you. I think I chomped some trollish lures too but I'm starting to understand when to keep my submit-message shut. I have a classical git that picks on me every so often, not frequently enough. When I was newly online a couple years ago I discovered OLGA and went through two reams of paper and a laser cartridge with decadent abandon. I learned about tabs from a Leonard Cohen songbook in college thirty-mumble years ago, Sangria! how can I have got so old and still feel so Jung?? FYI I'm a native Texan, living down here in Yewsten, anybody headed this way ever is welcome to contact me for grins, gripes, grits, malt beverages etc. I'll plug our Pacifica station as a great place for blues music every Sunday (12 continuous hours worth delivered by 4 host shows in 3-hour stints, sometimes in-studio touring musicians) anyway check out www.kpft.org/ I know they have streaming audio, just don't know how it works 'cause I get mine straight outta thin air. Oh, yeah- on Fridays at 11 PM there's "Dead Air" - a different live Dead concert every week. Saturdays all day the music shifts include "Lone Star Jukebox" , "Spare Change" , "Pickin' and Swingin" , Jazz ("Milestones") at 6 PM, oh yeah "Irish Aires" Sundays at 8PM hell, I just gave you the whole schedule forget the website but check it anyway for even more info and show playlists. The posted schedule may be loose due to recent managerial changes. Oh, say did I mention I'm Michael the Loquacious? Back on thread, thanks for the many welcomes, I like it here. Wow - bunch of Folks coming out to say "Howdy" to us!! Be Welcome - Harmaker, C-Flat, Janie, Pooka, Toribw, HuwG (would that be Hug in code?), and Rolfy from the Tweed (we met earlier there)!!! This is the last bastion of fully accredited insanity that actually borders on normalcy.

I've gotta plug the Sunday "Mudcat Song Circle" on Paltalk. We start at 1 PM Mudcat time (Eastern time zone). If you are unfamiliar with Paltalk there are tons of threads on it or you can PM me and I'll be more specific about what, where, when, and maybe even why!! We have an international group that participates and it is a blend of whatever the musicians bring to the circle.

We also insist that all levels of ability come and participate. We have some folks who are just beginning and some long time players that are pretty good. It's the most supportive group on the internet for music!! Come in - sing - play - or listen and provide the applause - - *BG*

Mole, once I had learned of his greatness and his untimely passing. Very sorry I never knew him. My name, while generic, is intended as a shortened (for spacesaving) reference to The Pooka Fergus MacPhellimey, a character of the late writer Flann O'Brien (aka Myles na Gopoleen - Miles of the Little Horses)(hey Sorcha, I got yer spritely Horsies right heeah). The Pooka has been described as "an Irish devil in human form." Humbly, I shall do my best to live up to this legacy. Thank you. Glad to be here.

greg-I am using a similar set up to you, there is a small recessed button on the top right hand corner of your box, every now and again press it and it will clear your cache, this means you will be able to read the longer threads, (I can read up to around 100 posts).Any problems/questions fell free to PM or email me [e-mail]

I'm not quite new, but I was recently thinking that I probably should have introduced myself when I joined up. Heard about Mudcat through my dear friend Dani, then she cajoled my sister and me into going to the 2002 Getaway with her. Had a great, restorative time, met a bunch of Mudcatters and a long lost friend, checked out the site when I got home and the rest is history. My main musical talent is appreciation. I started this one to welcome The Pooka. He started as "Guest, Oulmole," and has decided to join up. (I understand, actually, that "The Pooka" is short for a much longer name, but he can tell you about that.)
