I just found out that my group got nominated for a Wammy (Washington Area Music Association Award) for "Best folk/traditional music group". I am stunned! Never saw that coming for sure.

I am a bit taken a-back...what an honor...

Hesperis... My monicer of "Celtic Soul" is simply a handle for the Mudcat, and has no relation to my bands name. So, no, I am not the person you thought me to be.

I prefer not to spew my name out into the ether, and so chose a nom du plume that sorta represented me musically...I am most attracted to Irish/Scottish music, though unfortunately we do only a couple of pieces.

Sorry for the confusion...I had no idea there *was* a band by that name. :D

Neil - I don't know how far this has gone - or if they have even contacted the Pyrates yet - but I *do* know that work is proceeding on a grant that would be to bring several siging pirate groups to Sterling Renaissance festival. A rather vocal group is pushing to include the Pyrates Royale among the groups if everything can be worked out. Cross your fingers!

I'm around here and there, I've grown up as part of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, but only in the last year or so have I really begun to enjoy the music. Between Renfest, concerts, and the Mile I see you all around a fair amount. So who won what awards? I'm excited for you all, Judy, Ships Company, etc...
