Subject: RED MOUNTAIN WHITE TRASH From: GUEST,FORTUNATO Date: 17 Feb 02 - 09:59 AM OLD TIME MUSIC IS ALIVE AND WELL IN ALABAMA.
Red Mountain White Trash is an old-time stringband from Alabama. They put on a show that layers traditional fiddle tune and old time country and blues in the best tradition of The Skillet Lickers and The Highwoods String band. Add to that a masters course in the fiddlers and their tunes of Alabama, excellent musicianship and vocal harmonies and you are begining to get the picture. These folks are tight. We saw them in concert and later had the great pleasure of meeting them and picking a bit after the show. Wonderful folks, wonderful music. |

How's the weather where you are? It was 60 degrees here in DC yesterday. In February. Incredible. Regards, Chance |

Subject: RE: Review: RED MOUNTAIN WHITE TRASH From: GUEST,FORTUNATO Date: 18 Feb 02 - 09:50 AM Hey Bucketeer, I got one, "Chickens Don't Roost Too High", we've been listening ever since. Great stuff. They do a nice version of "Dixie Darling", and lots of good fiddle tunes and songs. More later. Regards, Chance |
Subject: RE: Review: RED MOUNTAIN WHITE TRASH From: Fortunato Date: 19 Feb 02 - 09:27 AM One last note. I forgot to mention that these folks, in performance and on "Chickens Don't Roost Too High" get to where IMHOP an Old Time String Band should: variety entertainment. That is humorous songs, impromptu comedy, good fiddle tunes and 'period pieces' that display their historical context. Well done, 'Trash. |
