Who's the king of the fighting Dutch?
Skipper Jan Rebeck
And who's the man we fear so much?
Skipper Jan Rebeck

And it's ja, ja, leave your hammocks
Ja, ja, hands on deck
Ja, ja, break yet backs
For Skipper Jan Rebeck

etc etc etc

Anyone know the etc etc etc or am I going to have to make it up (Again!)?

The only other verse I can remember is -

Who has four girls every night
Skipper Jan Rebeck
One black, one red, one yellow, one white
Skipper Jan Rebeck

Dunno why that politicaly correct one sticks in my mind wo much...;-)

Cheers

As far as I can remember here are the words

JAN REBECK

Who's the king of the 'Fighting Dutch'
Skipper Jan Rebeck
And who do the sailors fear so much
Skipper Jan Rebeck

And it's ya ya leave your hammocks
Ya ya hands on deck
Ya Ya break your back
For skipper Jan Rebeck

And who can furl a main topsail
All by himself in a living gale

Who was it bought all the tea in China
And sold it all in Carolina

And when he got a ship of his own
Twas brute force kept him on the throne

And who can drink his weight in beer
And who takes two baths every year

Who sleeps with four girls every night
One black one yellow one red one white

Who's the king of the 'Fighting Dutch'
And who do the sailors fear so much

Line Breaks

The words were also posted in a previous thread (I've not studied them to see if they're exactly the same): Skipper Jan Rebec.

Thanks peeps! I searched before I asked Joan - Not as lucky as your search I guess. Or perhaps it was the spelling...;-)

I searched on "skipper jan", as I wasn't altogether sure of the surname spelling.

And just what do us wimmin say about you blokes? I hope you're not accusing me of tarring you all with the same brush?! (Hands on hips, pouting...)...:-))

See you soon, Dave.

Thanks again one and all. Managed to give it an airing at Clynnog-Fawr this weekend (2nd time - Marsdens Pedigree took control at the first attempt...)

Anyhow - encountered a wonderful Mondegreen which could well be kept in for posterity (or posterior. Never sure)

Who's the king of the fighting ducks...?

People must think that this 'ere folk music is quackers.

Cheers

Gee, is this guy related to the butcher with the sausage meat machine?

I suppose I'd think of "Rebec" as a Frenchman, and "Rebeck" as a Hollander.
