In buying tickets to see Waterson-Carthy at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford this coming spring, it occurred to me to wonder if any other NE mudcatters were planning to attend, & if so maybe we could---gasp!---actually MEET?!

Anyone planning to check it out? It's my birthday weekend & I intend to have fun!

I keep trying but something has always gotten in the way. By all accounts it's quite a nice festival. Maybe this year? Hope to see you there. Barry

Hi, Desdemona! We're down here in Derby, Ct. You don't mention when Waterson-Carthy are playing, so I have no idea whether my wife and I might make it. It's not beyond the realm of possibility. We went up last fall to a revival of the Eisteddfod in North Dartmouth, Mass. and I took my wife over to the Whaling Museum because she had never been there. I have quite a few good friends up in your neck of the woods... Jim and Cindy Bean, Howard Glasser in particular, and it's always great to see them. How about posting the date so if there are any of us who can get up that way, we can at least consider it more seriously?
Jerry

Ooops---sorry! It's Friday April 12th; it's general seating, doors open at 7pm. They are, needless to say, they are amazing, and at $15 a pop the best bargain in town!

I've put it on the calendar.

Don't know if we can make it, but we'll try. Only an hour and a quarter away.

Slight thread creep - I'll be in the Boston area May 16-19 or so, anybody going to be around then?

I live in Boston! So let me know when you come to town; lots of great instrumental sessiuns every night of the week and a great singers' club on Wednesdays...

I am planning to go see Karan Casey at the Burren March 20th (she cancelled her September 12th gig for obvious reasons); Solas (with their new singer) plays the beautiful Sanders Theatre in Cambridge on the 15th. There is always a huge crop of Irish bands and performers during St. Paddy's week in Boston...

Can't get away for the Waterson/Carthy program, but we'll be there for the New Bedford SummerFest in July, and our booth near the museum can serve as a Mudcat gathering place, as it does at Old Songs and Champlain Valley. Hope to see you there.

Sandy

Refreshing this - my reunion is NEXT MONTH now. I don't know if there will be things I want to attend every night, and I'll be there Thursday May 16th (arriving in pm) through Sunday the 19th, which is also the twins' birthday. PEG, I know you live in the area, who else? I'll be staying with friends in Lincoln, but will be visiting Concord and Cambridge at the least, not counting going to Tufts itself...

By Jupiter, that does sound interesting; we're probably a good 3 hours from there up in Maine, but A'nt Mahtha has Ancestors from the area and we have been down on geneaology quests before. what's for RV campground facilities in the area? Could you provide a link to a relavant website, perhaps?

We have been considering the Mystic Seaport affair in June, I think, which is covered on a previous thread here.

Do keep us posted on folk / Celtic things in the Boston area; now that the train runs from Portland to North Station, attendance might be doable on occasion.
