Subject: NIXON farewell - the lyrics? From: Olle Strandberg - the Swede Date: 19 Mar 98 - 04:04 PM Hi! Does somebody knows the lyrics to the great tune "Nixon Farewell"? |
Subject: RE: NIXON farewell - the lyrics? From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Apr 06 - 09:52 AM Bob Mills' album "Whatever Happened?" (Orchard CD #5653, 2000), contains a cut called THE FARMER'S WIFE/NIXON'S FAREWELL. Unfortunately, searching with Google for "Nixon's Farewell" brings up a lot of nonmusical information that's kind of hard to sift through. Any quotes or other information would help. |
Subject: RE: NIXON farewell - the lyrics? From: Wolfgang Date: 05 Apr 06 - 04:33 PM By any chance, could these be the lyrics containing some immortal lines like: To win the Irish voter is the in-thing now it seems, sing tooralooralooralooraloo and often in the White house paddy figures in their schemes,... to win this growing section you need Irish connections and try to prove you're Irsih through and through... And Nixon in the White House very lately over teas, sing... said what was good enough for Kennedy is good enough for me.... and the tapes he won't hand over with the words of the "Wild Rover', 'A nation once again' and 'The Foggy dew' ah, but one said 'here lies old Nick' and Nixon said 'that'll do the trick, he's Irish now as Hitler was a Jew... Subject: RE: NIXON farewell - the lyrics? From: GUEST,Pete Peterson Date: 06 Apr 06 - 12:10 PM The "Nixon's Farewell" that I know is the "festival version" (much simpler) of the tune written by Curt Bouterse and can be found in the Portland Collection-- a collection well worth the money for anybody interested in fiddle tunes! If that's the one you're looking for, we just used the very simple words: Nixon's gone, Nixon's gone, HA HA HA HA HA (repeat ad nauseam) Do those words fit the tune you know? |
Subject: RE: NIXON farewell - the lyrics? From: GUEST,Andy Alexis, Piney Creek Weasels Date: 06 Apr 06 - 01:43 PM Nixon's Farewell was written by Curtis Carlisle Bouterse in a cool little booklet that I am lucky enough to have a copy of. He is also the writer of the much-played tunes "Waiting For Nancy". As far as I know, the only lyrics are "Nixon's Gone, Nixon's Gone Hah hah hah hah hah Nixon's Gone and I'm glad hah hah hah hah hah" We used to add "but reagan's here" instead of the final "and I'm glad". Curt Bouterse has a web site: Curt Bouterse Web Site |
