Subject: Malc Disley - One Year On From: GUEST,jan.beaumont@consignia.com Date: 20 Feb 02 - 06:27 AM Dear All I am sure those of you who knew him will be aware that it is almost a year since our dear friend Malc Disley passed on. Myself and one or two others felt it might be appropriate to try to organise a small get together to remember him, the way he would have liked - music, drinking etc!! Do you feel there would be interest in this? I have no fixed ideas, really, and am open to suggestions on dates, venues etc. Maybe Leigh Folk Club, on a night when no guests are scheduled to perform? Please respond via e-mail (jan.beaumont@consignia.com) or by phone- 01942 670457. Hope to hear from you! |
Subject: RE: Malc Disley - One Year On From: Joan from Wigan Date: 20 Feb 02 - 04:19 PM I'm trying to organise a get-together at the Courts Hotel, Leigh. The landlord, unfortunately, is on holiday, so I won't be able to book anything for definite until he's back (next Monday). Watch this space! (I have emailed Jan.) Joan |

Subject: RE: Malc Disley - One Year On From: caz2ufolk Date: 21 Feb 02 - 04:43 PM Joan you are a treasure. Sounds great for me at the courts from 5pm.(I'll keep checking for confirmation) I'll try to get hold of his mate julian in London. Not heard from phil I wonder if he made it to ingleton? :) Carol |
Subject: RE: Malc Disley - One Year On From: Joan from Wigan Date: 27 Feb 02 - 11:40 AM Because of the Courts Hotel having workmen in, the function room is not available this Sunday. However, those who are available and want to come to have a quiet chat are more than welcome to meet in the bar (I intend getting there about 3pm). I have also booked the function room for the full musical bit for Sunday 24th March. The landlord promises to confirm that in the pub diary when we see him this Sunday. I hope to see as many as can make it this Sunday. Please put the 24th in your diary, and let as many people who will be interested, know the arrangements. Joan |
Subject: RE: Malc Disley - One Year On From: Joan from Wigan Date: 01 Mar 02 - 03:28 AM Several people have indicated they'll be there this Sunday, some can't make it till evening, but we'll still be there. I'll look forward to meeting as many as can... Joan |

Subject: RE: Malc Disley - One Year On From: Joan from Wigan Date: 04 Mar 02 - 01:45 AM A goodly number arrived yesterday to remember Malcolm. We claimed the quietest corner of the pub (at least, it was until the football match started, which disrupted matters for a while). Carol, Bernard, Theresa, Mick, Lorraine, John, Matthew, Jan, Steph, and Malc's niece (I didn't catch her name) with her husband and baby. We reminisced and we talked about what we are doing now, and Carol showed us (and demonstrated) her new Ozark semi-acoustic guitar - lovely tone, and played well. I confirmed with the landlord the booking of his upstairs function room for Sunday 24th March, from 3pm till 11pm. Instruments and voices will be mandatory for that one! Joan |
