A net pal looking for title and lyrics to this Wilf Carter/Montana Slim song.

He's daddy's pride and joy, a bouncing baby boy,
A youngster full of fun, always on the run

No luck at all. Sucker ought to be at Cowpie, but it's apparently not. Sorry. Do you know which album it was on?

Here's another one I love but don't have a title for. The chorus goes;

Oh, let me lie on the lone prairie Where the hooves of the horses will fall Where the echoing tread Falls over my head And a cowboy will carry me home

Anybody know what it's called?

Apparently, that second one is Two Gun Cowboy. Reference found here mentions that it is similar to an older song called The Dying Cowboy which is in the DT

Dying Cowboy

George, thanks so much. I love Wilf Carter's music and always like to know where these tunes come from. Thanks for the lead.

I can help with the second one -
But nothing in the lyrics seems to tie in with the
Title of Two-Gun Cowboy?

TWO-GUN COWBOY
Wilf Carter

Oh come gather 'round me my comrades and friends
The sun is now sinking on life's short day
I'm wounded to die there is nothin' to do
But wait while my life ebbs away

I rode o'er the prairie by night and by day
No danger I feared as I rode along
At last a [*red foal] has [*written my doom]
And now the cowboy will carry me on

REFRAIN:
They let me lie on the lone prarie
Where the hooves of the horses will fall
Where the echoing [*treads] falls over my head
And the cowboy will carry me on

There's a girl far away o'er the mountain today
She's dreaming of the roundup we planned, I know
But tell her I'm gone and wait til the dawn
When we ride in that great rodeo

REFRAIN:

Be kind to my pony while with you he stays
Go bury him by me when he must go
Oh often I've tried him I know he'll not fail
When we ride in that great rodeo

REFRAIN:

[*] = unclear
