Subject: RE: BS: Things I shall miss about the USA From: Murray MacLeod Date: 07 Mar 02 - 10:04 AM I am going to find out today if I can buy a machine to duplicate the stuff. Ordinary espresso machines don't hack it. Looking at my post above, I should say that "cafe Cubano" is the correct name, "colada" simply refers to the quantity of coffee bought. Murray |

There is a vaguely similar chain called B @ Q in Britain, but it is really for DIY customers, contractors tend to go to specialist builders merchants. The great thing about Home Depot is that it caters to amateur and professional alike. Thank you for your good wishes ! Murray

Subject: RE: BS: Things I shall miss about the USA From: M.Ted Date: 07 Mar 02 - 12:06 PM Even with the machine, I think you have to have someone who is a practicing Cuban show you how to make it, Murray--If there is an embassy or consulate about, make a diplomatic visit, as it is a fair bet that someone there will be able to give instruction-- |

Subject: RE: BS: Things I shall miss about the USA From: Murray MacLeod Date: 02 Jun 02 - 09:40 PM Cafe Cubano seems like a faint distant memory today, and I have been too busy to think nostalgically about the States, apart from the weather. Was Scotland always this damp and rainy when I was a lad ? I seem to remember the sun shining at least some of the time .... Our container took forever to arrive, but at least everything was more or less intact except for my computer, which for some reason had a non-functioning modem on arrival. Finally I have succeeded in installing a new US Robotics card after two previous abortive efforts. Incommunicado for two months plus but can now make up for lost time. I have put in two months of hard labor here and there is still a lot of work ahead to achieve what the owner and I both want, but by the end of June we should at least have built a bar, with stage and sound system, and music every night. By this time next year, I would hope that the Pinetrees Hotel will be a household name in Scotland as a folk music venue. One thing that is spurring me on is that I spoke to Janis Ian the night before I flew out and she told me she would love to play here next year, if we get it together. (Her concert in Homestead was sensational btw, what a lady ....) Not a lot seems to have changed on Mudcat since I last visited, except everything seems more peaceful. Maybe I should stay away more often. Oh well, off to bed now, perchance to dream of Home Depot, Guitar Center and Dunkin Donuts .... Murray
