A friend of mine found an instrument called a Ukalyn at a sale. He wants background information on it. I have been little help to him. So I'm asking for your help. Many thanks!

I have one...in playable shape...rather than type, I'll let you read this http://160.111.7.240/resource/faq/nmah/ukelin.htm

Debby McClatchy, who has several records to her credit, used to occasionally play one in a concert for a diversion.

type 'ukelin' into any decent search engine and get lots more stuff...this article seemed the most obviously relevant...

I'm another Ukelin owner. It's a cross between a Bowed Psaltry and a Zither where you bow the notes and pluck four chords.

Wasn't it one o' those instruments created by and sold by a Mr. Marx (don't recall 1st name) in rural Michigan (the mitten--not the U.P.)!!

Claudia Schmidt is another user of Marx's products I think. Didn't she find his widdow with an entire house just crammed full of various Marx creations and stock??
