I would love it if someone out there can tell me what the lyrics are to this song. All that I know are as follows: Granny will your dog bite, no child no, daddy cut his biter off a long time ago. I once heard an elderly fiddler sing this in North Carolina, and I do not remember the rest. Also, I would like to find the lyrics to "Big Taters in Sandy Land". I would be very appreciative of anyone's help.

Hi, Lisa. Welcome to the Mudcat. There is some information about the first song in this thread. Looks like it is known as Soldier's Joy.

Also, if you type in your title phrase in the SuperSearch box at the top of the threads and hit go, you will find some other threads with info and some verses of it, too.

It is better if you start a separate thread for each song and do a supersearch, too.

Hope this helps,

kat

Granny Will Your Dod Bite

Granny will your dog bite,
Your hen peck, your rooster fight,
Your turkey walk a fence rail?
No, child no.

Granny will your dog bite?
No child, no child.
Daddy took his bitter off,
A long time ago.

Words from book by Gerald Milnes called "Granny Will Your Dog Bite and Other Mountain Rhymes". This is a nice compilation book with illustrations and a cassette of the tunes. Bill

The verse also appears in some versions of Cotton Eyed Joe along with another verse that goes

Granny will your hen peck, no child no
Dog bit its pecker off a long time ago.
