I am posting this a little early. There is a Bluegrass Show at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 614 on Sunday March 17th (I know, I know). The show starts at 2:00 P.M. and features The Chapmans, who I haven't heard and Crazy Strings, who I have.

Crazy Strings are very good. Chris Quinn is one of the best Five String players in the world ascording to Rick Fielding. Jenny Whitely has a Wonderful Bluegrass voice. I forget the names of the other members (sorry, help T.O. Bluegrass fans) but they also feature one of the hottest young guitar players I've ever heard. They play a regular Wednesday gig at the Silver Dollar, but if you're like me this one will be a lot easier to make.

The Legion is located at 100 Salome Dr. in Scarborough 1st south of Sheppard running off Midland. Admission is $15.00. There will be plenty of time to drink Green beer afterwards.

I note that this poor thread has sunk to the very bottom of the list, and is about to disappear, despite the fact that it supplies some useful musical information. This is sad.

The only thing that occurs to me, Steve, is that maybe you should have dropped an idle comment or two about William Shatner in the initial post somewhere...

Any mention of Big Bill usually adds a sort of indefinable quality to a musical getogether, so it's always worth a try when the normal means of promotion have failed to garner results.

Sounds like a good show. Enjoy! :-)

Little Hawk,

I believe that William himself is going to do a "Pickin' On Dylan" tune or two.

Does anybody know anything about The Chapmans?

Steve

Yes! Yes! Shatner in Toronto! At a Bluegrass show! I dreamed this very thing! Yes! He will do a "Pickin' on Dylan" routine. I have heard he has been working on this for a few months. Man, oh man! I wish Mississippi wasn't so far from Toronto!

Has anyone heard the Great One do his Dylan impersonation? It is a grand thing to experience. "Once-upon- a time- you dressed so---fine, threw- the bums a ---dime, --did--n't you?"

Steve, Little Hawk is correct, throwing in a line or two about Shatner will help the life of a thread. As my old Grandaddy use to say back in the early sixties, "When all else fails, do Shatner." I have tried to live by Grandpop's words of wisdom. They have never failed me yet!

Rick, Hope to see you there. I'm not sure that I'm going as my kids are in middle of hockey playoffs, so their schedule changes depending on how they do.

Are you familiar with The Chapmans?

I've never been to the venue. Apparently they have a monthly Bluegrass show. It's nice to see a Bluegrass venue in Toronto.

Khandu, I've heard Billy do that. It's amazing. He does a Beatles cover that is even better. I think it's Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

Bill's version of "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds" is indeed immortal, but *I* think it's waaaay past time for him to record "Oh Canada" and do his home and native land the justice of committing the definitive rendition to tape for the enjoyment and education of future generations of Canadians.

PS---thanks for the tip, Little Hawk! ;~)

So, Bill Shatner is confirmed. He is doing Ralph Stanley's "Little Birdie"
