In my book, the alternative name for Carolan's Concerto is Mrs. Power, not Fanny Power. Fanny Power is a completely different tune. Mrs. Power is a faster tune, Fanny Power is slower and more graceful. Jenny |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Need Wedding Processional for guitar From: Vinland Date: 16 Mar 02 - 11:03 AM Andy, I believe the ultimate wedding processional tune to be "Fanny Power" by Turlough O'Carolan. I've played it at dozens of weddings and it's always a hit. It was written for the wedding of a friend of Carolan's and sets exactly the right mood!. If you can't locate a good arrangement, let me know and I'll email you one of mine. A lot of O'Carolan's music is suited to weddings. I also like to play Bach (Jesu Joy) and many lesser known folk melodies (including my own!). Dave Panting (of Rawlings Cross) has a beautiful tune called "The Wedding Gift". Hope that's some help.. Beautiful little thing, easy to pick out. Nice tempo for a wedding processional. I have no idea where you'd find it, though. Good luck! Lynn |
