Just when I was thinking a move to Oz was the only answer. *smiles*

We can have a category for Best Overseas Enforcement too.

if its any consolation...... two of my friends got thrown out of a bar here in Oz for having a quiet little jam, (in an empty pub on a quiet Wednesday morning... so it wasn't as if they were disturbing anyone).... looks like its spreading!!!

Anyone got links to all the other threads on PEL issues? I have a friend who has just decided it is his life's mission to get some press stirred up to help the government decide on sorting the 2 in a bar rule at the same time as other licensing reforms, if not before, and wants the max VERIFIABLE info to put before the press.

If you want to PM me and are happy to let my friend have your email address, please tell me. I'll vouch that he is not a vexatious email correspondent, and I don't think he's a virus risk either - keeps his machine scrupulously swept.

How about a tile for these awards? A Grumpie?

G.R.U.M.P.I.E.

Grossly - Riduculous - Unhelpful - Mean-spirited - Pathetic - Insensitive - Enforcement.

On 23 April Culture Minister Kim Howells will present the Safeway Excellence in England Tourism Awards at the Royal Opera House. "The day will not only celebrate excellence in tourism but also Englishness in all its diversity" Nominees include Weymouth and Oxford city councils. But both of these councils last year quoted case law from 1793 when enforcing the two in a bar rule against informal folk sessions in local pubs. There were no noise complaints or safety issues. When it comes to local gigs, how would you rate your local authority? Does it encourage local music-makers, or is it over-zealous when it comes to two in a bar. Go to http://www.does4you.co.uk/intro.html and click on the two in a bar motif. Instances of heavy handed enforcement must be verifiable, preferably including local press reports.
