I have heard a lovely sad song about the effects of the nuclear disaster on children in chenobyl. Anyone have the words?

Too many hits; can you narrow it down some? Band, lyric snippet, where you heard it, etc?

I know an awful joke -

Q. Why should you not wear Russian underpants?

A. Chernobyl fall out...

But I don'y know the song.

If you are doing a search you must spell it correctly first: Chernobyl.

As a piece of trivia, the word "Chernobyl" is a dialect word for "Wormwood" which is a plant used by cattle as a natural emetic.
Just another piece of useless information with which to fill the virtual dustbin.

oh but it gets better...Ukrainian religious scholars, not long after the Chernobyl explosion, found the biblical passage from Revelations which describes the poison which raisn down from the star called Wormwood...how it shall poison the waters and the grases etc. and were shocked to find that the Ukrainian word for this plant is Chernobyl. Weird.

Try Eric Bogle's song "Vanya". A beautiful, tragic story of a young girl poisoned by the radiation and not expected to live very much longer.

Lyrics to VANYA by Eric Bogle have been posted in the thread Chords Req: Vanya (Eric Bogle).

But we don't know whether that's the song Carolee had in mind, because she never came back to respond to Alaska Mike's suggestion.

Anybody know any other songs about Chernobyl?

Jim-

Evidently there are a number of projects on-going to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Here's a link to 19 tracks: Click here!
