Are the Wednesday night sessions at the Jug now finished, or will they continue, in some form or another.....

Something will continue on Wednesdays, although I am not certain what or where. If people turn up at the Jug something may still continue there, depending on the Landlord. There may be a transition period with a few pubs alternating, although this type of arrangement makes it awkward from a point of knowing where to go.
Information on sessions near the Selby area gets posted on this link Where the Folk R'We although I am not sure how quickly it gets updated.
Can't be more specific at present.
Geoff!

Is there another change at the Jug? I haven't been since last year's gathering. Does this mean there won't be a gathering there this year?

:-(

Well if there isn't why not come to the Beverley Folk Festival (proleteriat version) -camping singing and lots of Mudcatters -can't we combine the two events?

It is extremely unlikely that the gathering at the Jug will take place but it is still hoped that the weekend will take place at another venue. I hope to be sorting that during the Easter holidays. That won't stop us from coming to Beverley though.

The same thought had occurred to me, Linda, and Roger's most recent posting on the People's Voice thread looks very promising.

Hello Linda, I thought you'd emigrated! Nice to see you in circulation, I hope all is well with you.

With the People's Voice Folk Gathering getting into it's serious planning stage I'm sure that the Mudcat has it's place in the 'new idea'. There are plenty of venues and perhaps one of the boozers can be designated for 'Mudcat Sessions' after all it's through (in the main) talking on the Mudcat that the PVFG has got off the ground.

To get back to the Jug As I understand it the landlord of the pub would like to concentrate on food, although muscians are welcome as before, as long as the musics starts after the last diner has finished eating usualy 9:30 or a little later in some case's.For some of us due to family or work comitments thats a little late, therefore some of the musicians will be going onto an alternative alternating sesion details will arrive at http://www.wherethefolkrwe.f9.co.uk/gig.html.

The food and beer is still good at the Jug, but as with all things it is time to move on, I think it would be a nice analagy to say the session had it's infancy at the Jug, we are now entering the teenage years and are feeling our feet a bit.Hope to see old and new friends in the near future at our new venues. Keith

As far as we know the music is going to be at The Wheatsheaf at Burn tomorrow night (Weds 20 March). It is likely to alternate with the George & Dragon at West Haddlesey (turn LEFT off the A19 if heading North), where the Landlord and Landlady cannot be more welcoming to musicians.
Geoff and Jane.

Wonder if so many people will frequent the Jug to eat, now that there's no music to listen to.... might be worth keeping an eye on that one....

Apparently the people who were in the pub eating when the musicians were asked to stop had come BECAUSE there was music and when the session moved to another pub they went with them!
