We've a new member among us from the UK. I had mentioned the free musician's promotional site, www.IUMA.com, in another thread and Bullfrog Jones wrote me a PM to say thanks and invited me to listen to files he'd put up there for his band the "Bullfrogs."

They do a great mix of country, rock, rhythm & blues, and other stuff AND sound GREAT! You can hear samples by clicking here.

I especially loved Mexico is calling me and Stone's throw from nowhere. Great vocals and arrangements.

I had mentioned that it was amazing to me how *American* they sound, to which Jones explained:

It's kinda hard to sing American-based music in anything but (an approximation of) an American accent, but rest assured, we don't talk like that... as soon as I realised that the kind of songs I wanted to write and sing were American, there was no other way to go. Having said that, on 'Misery Loves Company' I sing the last verse in Spanish, and on our first c.d., which I'll get round to uploading soon, I did a cajun song partially in French! Anyway I'm really glad you like it and I'd be honoured if you want to spread the news.

So here I am, folks, spreading the good news and offering a big Mudcat welcome to Bullfrog Jones and his band! (Oh, btw, he's the handsome bearded one in the hat!:-)

I am "tracing " this thread so I can go to the page and listen when I have more time (tomorrow, I hope!).

Meanwhile, welcome Bullfrog! Glad to have you among us!

More later.

Welcome, Bullfrog! Ah Ha! So that's why you think all singer-songwriters are filled with self-pity (another thread.) Maybe you haven't some of the good, tradition-based ones over here. Your band sounds great... all music I love...rock, rhythm and blues and the old pre-plastic Hat country. Best 'a luck!!

Jerry

Welcome, Bullfrog. But I hasten to add it just ain't fair. You get to sing in an American accent. But every time I tried to sing "Black Leg Miners" in my best UK accent (admittedly not too good) my buddy from Sussex would give me hell for bad form. Still and all welcome to the 'cat and I'll look forward to your postings. A fresh perspective is always welcome. Cheers, Fortunato.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, Bullfrog! I agree with kat, your band is great!! Now, you all get your collective bum over here to Texas, and we'll have a little talk about them pointy toed boots and leather britches... ;-)

It's great to have you here!

All the best, Áine

Hey the band is fine but the voice is just a bit more than a croak. I leaped right in to find out more though got riddupp my first impression which was a very hoppy occurrence and now I have but one question.........So Bullfrog, tell me, is your ass watertight?

Welcome to the 'Cat anyway. It's a great place populated with caring, intelligent, erudite, knowlegeable, and talented people. I'm not one of them, but I know I've run into some here over the years.........Glad to have you aboard.

Spaw

Ah! I got to listen. Very enjoyable! Very well put together.

Ian Anderson?? Surely not that, oh, never mind!

Spaw, you missed the most obvious of terrible puns...

This is one band that never wants to get a gig!

Again, Bullfrog, welcome to the strange, but weird, Mudcat!

Thanks to you all, especially Kat, for your welcome, and even for Spaw's appalling punnery. (S'okay, I can take a bit of ribbitting!)Glad you like the music, and you may like to know that I've just been back to add the original compositions from our first C.D. (not sure of the legal ramifications of loading the cover versions). It's nice to be here.

BJ
