Subject: RE: Trad Reach From: Stewart Date: 29 Mar 02 - 07:24 PM From Donegal News Local News Digest Friday 1st February, 2002 Music school opens A NEW music school 'Trad Reach' opened in Letterkenny earlier this week. Focusing mainly on traditional Irish music, it also incorporates contemporary guitar and keyboard classes, covering various styles of music. The school is being run by local woman Donna Harkin, Brian Sweeney from Finner and Englishman Sean Debney who works in Letterkenny. According to Ms Harkin the school offers top quality tuition to all age groups on a wide variety of instruments. 'We offer students to choice of learning by staff notation, letters or by ear in a pleasant and professional environment,' she explained. 'We believe that we have discovered a niche in the marketplace. People are always approaching us about music lessons so we decided to open up a school at No 3 Celtic Apartments,' she said. The main aim of Trad Reach is to make traditional Irish classes an enjoyable experience for all, regardless of age. 'We hope to promote and develop the tradition in the North West and will run a monthly session for the students to give then the chance to play what they have learned with other musicians of a similar standard. 'To begin with, we will focus on instrumental tuition but intend to expand to include song, Irish language, dance and much more besides in the very near future. We offer lessons in fiddle, whistle, flute button accordion, keyboards, banjo, mandolin, bodhrain and traditional and contemporary guitar,' she said. Trad Reach offer one to one tuition and classes that are limited to five people which will be divided by choice of instrument and will also be divided into beginners, intermediate, advanced and adult.
