Thaks banj. I also missed this...guess it sunk too fast with all the "genital-type" threads, being very popular this week.

A local TV Country star (Tommy Hunter) played Grammer guitars exclusively. He loved their miniscule necks and bright colours.

Hope he pulls through........"and I feel like I gotta travel on..."

Rick

For anyone who doesn't remember him and never watched Jimmy Dean on the tube, here's little piece about Billy Grammer.

It's also notable that Billy started the Grammer Guitar Company. He had a lot of growing pains to say the least, but eventually his instruments were played by a lot of Opry stars (and Billy Grammer was an Opry star himself). Here's picture of a Grammer Guitar I can't link the picture at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, but they have several including a Brazilian rosewood.

Sorry Banj, because I missed this one the first time around. Having my very own aortic aneurysm I feel a certain "kinship" (mine's a different type though). They seem to have gotten it just in a nick of time. The procedure for repairing his was probably done with a sleeve and he seems to be doing well. It's a very dangerous surgery because things can go wrong fast. The upside is that the sleeves work very well!!!

I liked him too and he will be in my thoughts.

Just in case anybody cares, and from the rousing response this post got in the last 24 hours nobody obviously does, here is an update:

JACK HEERN Member From: MURPHYSBORO,IL. USA posted 30 March 2002 02:20 PM profile send email edit -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ I just talked to Billy's wife at 4:00 PM he is in recovery, the surgery took about 2 1/2 hours. He is doing well at this time. The aorta is about an inch in diameter, the aneursym was about 5" in diameter when they got to it and very thin.God did have his hand on him!! His family ask me to thank you all for your prayers. Don't quit praying yet , he still has a way to go

Just read this on a newsgroup. Has anyone heard any info? Always did like Billy Grammer because in his own right he was sort of a 'outlaw' himself. He would sing gospel type songs and talk about his convictions when others wouldn't touch the subject. Also always liked 'Gotta Travel On'

Billy (Grand old Opry Star) guitarist, producer, ect. is in Carbondale Il. Memorial Hospital with a anuerism on the main artery going down through his abdomen. Many of our older members know Billy and have performed with him. He is scheduled for surgery at 8:00 AM Saturday the 30th. This is a very dangerous surgery! Let,s pray for God's help in this matter. Thanx, Jack
