Here I go again.

My son will be in Chicago on leave from the Navy so I will depart from the Mudcat Gatrhering at our house in PA on May 5 and head west. A sleeping stop along the way would be heavenly, especially if there is a real bed with good support-- I can't do floor. I need to arrive in Chi-town on the 6th.

Once in Chicago I hope to hook up with some folks to jam, and I will go back to last year's thread to pick up the info in there which some of you kindly supplied.

I can leave Chicago any time after the 10th, and I need to be in western PA for Folk College in Clarion PA Friday afternoon May 17. I would love to see some Mudcatters during that week, especially if you can put me up. Again, I am sorry, I can't do floor.

I'll have access to Mudcat PMs all during that time.

The Fox Valley Folklore society song circles are still on Wednesday nights at the same place specified last year.

Let me commend the Lake County Folklore Society which has events going on very near to Great Lakes Naval Station in Waukegan. They hold a song circle one Sunday a month, an open mic 2 weeks later and featured performers other Sundays ... If downtown, recommend the Abbey Pub for Opem Mics on Tuesday nights (they hosted Eric Bogle a couple of years ago). On Thursdays and Sunday nights you can get a few songs in at the Gallery Cabaret in Bucktown (a thriving artists community) ... and play with Wayne Storey (the guy who wrote Wendigo ...).
I'll be in Chicago on the weekend of 13 April ... I'll prepare the ground for you ...

Well, it's official, my son's leave has been canceled ("and DO NOT leave the island!"), so the trip is off indefinitely. And besedes not having seen him in 3 years, I was really looking forward to all the great stuff to do!

Sigh...... we hope to be there sometime over the summer.
