A search on Google finds you many sites with the Lincoln / Kennedy thing - this is the first one.

However, as usual, Snopes has a more analytical approach.

We once made a party game out of that. Randomly selected pairs from the party crowd were given ten minutes and they had to come up with at least as many coincidences as the Lincoln/Kennedy pair. Most of them found even more coincidences and we had a lot of fun. Though I admit that none of us came close to the Monroe, Maryland and Marilyn Monroe coincidence of the presidential pair.

Way back in 1992, the Skeptical Inquirer run a presidential coincidences contest. The task was to find other pairs of presidents with long lists of coincidences. The winner sent in 21 pairs with about as many coincidences each as in the Lincoln/Kennedy pair.

For the fun of it, just some coincidences for one of the pairs:

-William McKinley and James Garfield were both Republicans
-They were both born and raised in Ohio
-Both were Civil war veterans
-Both last names have eight letters
- both of their vice-presidents wore mustaches
- both shot in September in the first year fo their current term....and so on for altogether twelve coincidences for this pair.

Another contestant came up with sixteen coincidences between Kennedy and Mexican president Alvaro Obregon, much more than between Kennedy and Lincoln. Now what does that mean?

And then there is this:

the amazing links between John F Kennedy and the
number 6:

Kennedy was shot in Dallas, which has 6
letters.
He was shot from the 6th floor of a book
depository.
Kennedy was shot on a Friday, a day which
contains 6 letters.
He was shot on the 22nd day of the 11th
month. Adding these figures together,
2+2+1+1, you get the number 6
By taking the initials FBI and moving each
initial 6 letters forward in the alphabet, you
end up with the initials LHO.... does it not
seem a little weird that by using the key
number 6 we end up with the initials of
Kennedy's killer, Lee Harvey Oswald?
The surname of his assassin, Oswald,
contains 6 letters.
The assassin's middle name, Harvey, also has
six letters.

Subject: Lyr Add: HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF (Buddy Starcher)
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 26 Jan 10 - 12:57 PM

There are many folkloric text versions of the list of similarities between Lincoln and Kennedy—for example, those posted at Mudcat by C-flat, Murray MacLeod, and GUEST,Partridge—but if you're looking for recorded versions, I believe you want HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF, recorded separately by Buddy Starcher (whose version rose to #2 on Billboard's country chart), Tex Ritter, Minnie Pearl, Cab Calloway, and Steve Lynch and the Dixies, an Irish showband (and perhaps others).

You can hear some of these at WFMU's Beware of the Blog.

The words are spoken over the tune of THE BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC. The only words sung are those in parentheses, sung by backup singers.

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF
As recorded by Buddy Starcher, 1966

(Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.)

This is a strange but true story which proves that history does repeat itself,
and the events depicted here happened just one hundred years apart.
Both President Lincoln and President Kennedy were concerned with the issue of civil rights.
Lincoln was elected in 18-hundred-60.
Kennedy was elected in 19-hundred-60, one hundred years apart.
Both were shot from behind in the head.
Their successors, both named Johnson, were southern Democrats with seats in the Senate.
Andrew Johnson was born in 18-hundred-and-8.
Lyndon Johnson was born in 19-hundred-and-8, one hundred years apart.
John Wilkes Booth, the man that shot Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, the man that shot Kennedy, was born in 1939, one hundred years apart.
Booth and Oswald were southerners, favoring unpopular ideas.
Booth and Oswald were both assassinated before going to trial.
Both presidents' wives lost children through death while in the White House.
Both presidents were killed on a Friday, and in the presence of their wives.
President Lincoln's secretary, whose name was Kennedy, advised him not to go to the theater.
President Kennedy's secretary, whose name was Lincoln, advised him not to go to Dallas.
John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in a theater, and ran to a warehouse.
Lee Harvey Oswald shot Kennedy from a warehouse, and ran to a theater.
The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain 7 letters.
The names Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson each contain 15 letters.
The names John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald each contain 15 letters,
and friends, it is true, history does repeat itself.

(His truth is marching on.)

Subject: Lyr Add: GREAT MEN REPEAT THEMSELVES (Homer&Jethro
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 26 Jan 10 - 01:03 PM

And now for the Homer & Jethro parody (for which my previous message was meant as an intro):

GREAT MEN REPEAT THEMSELVES
As recited by Jethro Burns, on the Homer & Jethro album "Wanted for Murder" (1966)

This is a strange but true story that proves that great men indeed repeat themselves, that greatness indeed follows the same pattern.
The facts depicted here are strange almost to the point of incredibility.
Both of the great men we will tell you about are concerned with the triumph of good over the black forces of evil.
Both of these great men are rich,
And both of these great men have searching blue eyes.
The name Lyndon contains 6 letters.
The name Batman contains 6 letters.
At Batman's side stands the Boy Wonder.
At Lyndon's side stands the Wonder Boy.
The names Robin and Hubie each contain 5 letters.
The names Washington and Gotham City each contain 10 letters.
The names Riddler and Wallace each contain 7 letters.
The names Mr. Robert S. McNamara and Commissioner Gordon each contain 18 letters.*
The name Castro lacks one letter having the same number as Penguin.
The names The Bat Plane and Air Force One each contain 11 letters.
Batman's Batmobile is in reality an experimental model Lincoln Continental.
Lyndon's Lincoln Continental is in reality an experimental Batmobile.
Behind the Caped Crusader stands a young bird named Robin.
Behind the Tall Texan stands an old crusader named Byrd.
Bank robbers tremble when Batman spreads his net,
And bank presidents tremble with what Lyndon nets from his spread.
If you subtract the year of Lyndon's birth, which is 1908, from the year he graduated from high school, which is 1924, you get 16.
Add 16 to 36, because Lyndon is the 36th president, and you get 52.
There are 52 weeks in a year, 7 days in a week.
Add 2 for the number of family beagle hounds and you get 9.
The square root of 9 is 3.
Divide this by a wife and two daughters and you get 1,
And there is only one Batman.

[* Not true. Maybe Jethro was using the incorrect spelling "Macnamara"?]

Wolfgang's list included the following line:

Kennedy was shot on a Friday, a day which
contains 6 letters.

Wolfgang, I'd point out that Friday is the sixth day of the week, so there's another 6.
