Someone Is Waiting For Me recorded by the Red Clay Ramblers (late 70s or early 80s) and by the Stoneman family in the 20s but reissued on "Round the Heart of Old Galax" (County Records).

Mary, here's a link to the liner notes for A Parents' Home Companion, a wonderful CD by Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer. The song in the CD that touched me most was "Dear Mom." You'll find that song's lyrics last on the liner notes. This one CD could make your whole show.

Mother's Day Song, written by Rosalie Sorrels, might be a fun addition to your program. A storyteller, songwriter from Idaho, Sorrels included this song in her anthology songbook "What, Woman, and Who, Myself, I am". It's a fun song, and includes lyrics - "Now that the children have grown up, I can sleep until noon...Now that the children have gone away, I can sit down and write me a tune..."

My Mom's a Feminist (Kristin Lems) is another goodie!

"The Sweetest Gift, A Mother's Smile" is popular in bluegrass circles, written by James B. Coates, a song about a loving mother visiting her son in prison.

Another bluegrass mother song is "Hold Fast to the Right" by Robert and Bill Brumley, about a mother's advice when sending her son off to face the world.

On May 10th(Mother's Day) I'm doing a community radio show (WORT in Madison Wisconsin) and want to play songs closely or loosely related to mothers.
