Subject: Ralph McTell's National?

Listening to Radio Shropshire the other night, there was an interview with Ralph McTell.
His new CD is called National Treasure, because it's all played on his "National Guitar"...
Except it isn't... It isn't a National at all. At a recent gig, someone from the audience looked at the guitar, and cast doubts on its provenance. Ralph got in touch with Bob Brosman who agreed "the only part that might be National is the tail piece",
Ralph doesn't seem to mind, and it sounds pretty good anyway.
The CD's great, by the way - highly recommended.

I heard that story but I thought that he had re-recorded the album with a "proper" National. Is there a track listing available for the CD anywhere on the net?

A.

No, he didn't re-record them, but I think he wishes he hadn't been persuaded to use that title!
The CD was recorded in his own kitchen assisted by his son, and his daughter sings with him.
I haven't seen a track listing anywhere yet, but I've heard Stagolee, Robert Johnson's Come On In My Kitchen, and an instrumental with a Cornish title.

Its a great album. One small irritation though - he credits "Tickling the Trout" to Mendelssohn but I'm sure its Schubert!

That's definitely now on my "to buy" list. I've seen him play live a couple of times recently. He really is an excellent guitarist and there's much more to him than "Streets of London".

A.
