Subject: Pls Help Compile List of Folk Radio Show From: JedMarum Date: 22 Apr 02 - 12:33 PM I would like to get a list of Mudcat favorite radio shows, and radio show hosts - in preparation for a new recording release (record this Summer, release next Fall/Winter). There are a couple of intrenet resources and lists of folk and/or celtic music shows, and will be using those too - but I was hoping to find some more personal insight into which of those shows/hosts I ought to be aiming at. These poor bastards are buried with new music every day, so any personal info you have on the shows/hosts would be helpful to me in introducing the CD and the music. Can you tell me; What are the stations on which you like to listen to folk/celtic music? What are the shows? What are the radio host names? Any personal info/insight would also be much appreciated. PS - this request is for folk/celtic music shows anywhere in the world. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: Pls Help Compile List of Folk Radio Show From: GUEST,Mimsey Date: 22 Apr 02 - 02:22 PM Phil and Gaye Johnson are host to a to-be-syndicated radio show called the King Pup Radio Hour, featuring lots of local folk groups and even Doc Watson (from the concert at Garnder-Webb University in Boiling Springs NC last weekend). My husband and I have performed on one of the shows, too. We're very local-you've probably not heard of us: Gingerthistle (www.kudzupatch.net) It's a great show, and Phil will soon have enough recorded shows to syndicate it. (www.radioyur.com) Mimsey |

Subject: RE: Pls Help Compile List of Folk Radio Show From: Rich_and_Dee Date: 22 Apr 02 - 02:47 PM When I lived in NYC, my fav station was WFUV-FM, based at Fordam University. Besides their City Folk show, which highlights new and, as the name implies, a more urbanized acoustic sound (Robert Earl Keene, Dar Williams, Sun Volt, etc, on Saturdays they have an Irish show, called A Thousand Welcomes with Kathleen Biggins. On Sunday they run the syndicated Thistle and Shamrock, with Fiona Ritchie. Rich |
