I'm looking for an old song with the words "Faded photograph (on the wall?). It also has the words mother rhyming with no other. It was known in Arkansas after 1910, maybe in the 30's. That's all I know now, but might be able to get a little more info later.

It's not the "Faded photograph, bits and pieces, etc."

Found it in the Max Hunter Collection, "Picture on the Wall," lyrics plus audio. Faded picture

The words (slightly different) are in thread 19639 (Lyr. Add: The Picture on the Wall). It is noted there that the Carter Family also sang it. Picture

Oh wow, thanks! My uncle wanted it, and even though I told him about the Max Hunter collection and searched it myself, I had the wrong name. He also mentioned the Carter Family, so I know he'll LOVE this information.

I've been familiar with the Carter version. It was on their 'Mid the Green Fields of Virginia (RCA Victor LP) released in 1960s. Incidentally, this is not the one asked for, but there's a song under the same title The Picture on the Wall by J. P. Skelly (New York: Gordon, S. T., 1880), which has the chorus:

The faded picture of my mother,
It hangs above me on the wall.
How happy I would be, could I nourish into life
The picture of my mother on the wall.

Thanks againg, Masato. Your link to the sheet music is the same as the one Dicho (and Bill in AL) linked to in the other thread. My uncle probably wanted the Carter version with the "no other" words, but since I'm not sure, I'll send info on both.

(This was a favorite of my grandmother's who lived in Arkansas. I'm not sure if was my "biological" grandmother who died in childbirth, or my "step" grandmother, the only one I knew.)
