Katlaughing has been kind enough to agree to convert my cassette tape, and will forward the results, she says above, next week. Thanx, Kat!

I've included three songs:
Coffee Love (The Starbucks Song) by yours truly, with guitar
Beans, Bacon & Gravy with banjo Frankie and Johnny, with guitar.

There's been uncertainty, as I read it, as to how many selections each "artist" might have on the the CD(s). I've done these songs in declining order of preference from my point of view.

We could call the British Edition Ploughman's Lunch and feature a CD with cheddar, sliced apple, Branston's Pickle, and a pint of bitters. Or how about the Australian version...three barbecued shrimp, a mutton pastie, chips, a jar of Vegemite, two scones, beefsteak, mug of Foster's and call it Snack?

Vegemite ! So much better than Marmite (the eating variety, not McGrath's song, which cannot be beaten) ! The Australian Shop in Savoy Street off the Strand in London used to sell it by the ton - still does, I'm sure, if the shop is still there.

Talking of a UK version, how is the UK distribution going to be done? Assuming the CD's are made in one pressing run, it would make sense to ship a big box of them here in one go and distribute them by inland mail to mudcatters who want a copy. Is it going to go into commercial distribution and retail too?

Thanks for letting me know your preferences -- I will certainly respect them. We'll be using MP3s as the burn source and I don't know how many we will be able to squeeze into one disk, and may even go to two.

The UK distirbution problem is noted as an issue. I am waiting to hear from Emperor Maximillian the 30, as to how he wants handle the whole distro thing. More on this one later, PK???

Is there anybody out there who can draw? It just dawned on me that we don't need a photograph, as such, of the proposed cover (the whole checkered tablecloth thing. see earlier in this thread for description). If there's a 'Catter or two who is good with a pencil or a brush or whatever who can draw or paint the blue plate special we're off and running!! Even if it's in black and white we're cool. We can add color and lettering in Photoshop.

One more little thing that i just remembered. If you do a drawing, please, put it in a square space (like a CD cover) it will make resizing and whatnot easier (and we'd hate to have to crop out any part of a good drawing to make it fit).

Boy, do I LOVE that cover art, Homeless! It's fabulous. But I thought of another possible subtitle. I really liked "Mad cuts from the Mudcat" (euphonious!) -- but to go with the Blue plate special theme, how about "Prime cuts from the Cafe"? Or even just "Prime cuts"?

We had WLS....in Chicago 50,000 watts of power coming out of the windy city and mowing down a swath from just outside Indianapolis clear up to Lake of the Woods, Ontario on good nites. I suggest the Mudcat's Blue Plate Special be mixed with the sound of rattled potato chip bags in the background to get that authentic AM radio sound. I'm fairly certain that static had it's effect on all of us at an early age as we are mostly gettin' pretty old and grew up with it and managed to keep our interest in at least one thing for most of our lives. '57 rusted out buick, speaker in the middle of the dash, am radio dial glowin' in the dark and Stevie Wonder playin' "Fingertips" and Wilson Pickett hollerin' about the Land of a Thousand Dances. Yowzah, Gimme that static. Mind altering experience fer an twelve year old. Never got over it.

To everyone who complimented my artwork, thank you very much indeed, but I can't take credit for it all - LEJ did the hard part, coming up with the idea and describing it. All I did was put mouse to pad, push a few buttons, and move a few pixels. I've been giving him previews so that he can make suggestions toward what he wanted (which is why that was out there). It's his creativity, I'm only doing the gruntwork.

hesperis - I used an older version of Bryce. It used to be made by Metacreations, but now Corel has it. You can learn more about it here, bryce if you're interested. Or do a search for it - there are lots of forums and sites dedicated to it.
Thanx for the suggestion for outside the window, but like I said this is LEJ's baby and he's already given me a couple suggestions for that. The cover as it's shown is a work in progress.

And I'm with michaelr on this one - there's more artists out there. I'd like to see a few other people's creations myself.

well call me picky too... but I have never heard of a "blue plate special" either......

and no I don't have any other alternatives to suggest... I do like the idea........ but at the risk of being shot down... its too American........... and although I know that the majority of 'catters are from the US it sort of rules out many of the other countries represented at mudcat from the title......
