Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fiddle and Bow - Natalie MacMaster From: Sorcha Date: 26 Apr 02 - 10:22 AM Yes, Bruce wrote it. I think this is an MP3 of the song--Click here. Pay no attention to the lyrics posted (Child of the Sea), just listen. At the bottom of the page it says that the clip that is playing is Fiddle and Bow. Perhaps someone who hears better than I do can get the lyrics......that is all I found. |

FIDDLE AND BOW
Oh, my name is William MacDanel (?). I have come across the sea.
My father worked his life away diggin' for the coal.
CHORUS: No apple falls far from a tree.
So with fiddle strapped upon my back, I set out to see new land. (INSTRUMENTAL BREAK; CHORUS) |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fiddle and Bow - Natalie MacMaster From: Stewart Date: 03 May 02 - 12:54 PM A beautiful song. As a fiddle player I am particularly touched by the lyrics. After considerable struggle, I have transcribed the score (with instrumental breaks) for my own use. If anyone would like a copy (PDF or NWC file), PM me with your email address and I'll email it to you. Cheers, S. in Seattle |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fiddle and Bow - Natalie MacMaster From: GUEST,Marion Date: 03 May 02 - 04:00 PM I think the line in the chorus may be, "Let your passions guide your bow." Or maybe I just heard what I wanted to hear - I think it's a better line that way. Marion PS I also think that his "body lies down with the coal." But no guarantees, I haven't heard this song for a while. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fiddle and Bow - Natalie MacMaster From: GUEST,GUEST Date: 05 Sep 04 - 01:16 PM I believe that the first line should be: "My name is William, I've travelled far; I have come across the sea...", but it's a bit too muffled on the Guthro recording, so don't take my word for it! |
