Subject: HELP: Margaret Smith From: Chris/Darwin Date: 28 Apr 02 - 05:10 AM I am trying to find information on Margaret Smith, a singer at Frank Traynor's folk club in Melbourne in the 60's. Does anyone know of her whereabouts, current name or location, or whether she recorded anything? Any help appreciated.

Subject: RE: HELP: Margaret Smith From: Fiolar Date: 28 Apr 02 - 05:55 AM Try a Google search using "Margaret Smith" +"Folk Music" I tried that and it threw up some results. One in particular is based in Australia but the Margaret Smith mentioned is a fiddle player. She may or may not be the person you are looking for. Be interested to know how you got on. |
Subject: RE: HELP: Margaret Smith From: Chris/Darwin Date: 28 Apr 02 - 07:09 AM Thanks for the lead, but this is a much younger Margaret. I guess it is a pretty common name. I did a search on an Australian search engine and got nearly a thousand hits - none of which looked promising. Trouble is, Margaret has probably married and changed her name. She did stunning versions of such songs as "The Klan" and "When I first came to this land".
