I suspect the statistics about marriage are a bit misleading. I think there are some people who keep on getting marryied, and some people who keep on being married (maybe after a false start with someone else), and when you average the figures out you get an average that doesn't actually relate to either sort.

Wow! I thought someone was going to tell us they had a birthday and turned 29! I was all ready to come in here and tell them they were just a wee bairn yet, and life hadn't really begun...silly me! You're living it far better than most, that's for sure.

Congratulations, and thanks for the inspiration!!! Gives me hope that maybe the 4th times the charm. ;D

Very happy anniversary, Robin, and my best wishes for 29 years more. I like stable marriages too, (mine with Graciela is going for the 30th in December 22). This does not mean that second or third marriages have less value, it's only the pleasure to confirm that a marriage for all the life is still a reality.

It would be interesting to know which are the causes in your society. In mine, the basis is humour ! But.. I guess there are a lot of threads on that subject.

Congratulations, Robin. Patti and I celebrated our 20th earlier this year. It seems that if you can stay together for this long without killing each other, there's a point past which it just keeps getting better.
