When we were kids, we'd play a version of Tag called Yellow Fever. The trick was if It tagged somebody then they were It TOO, and as the game progressed you wouldn't know who was IT or if they hadn't been tagged yet. Kinda sick when you think about it. But did anybody else play it, and WHAT WAS THE SONG? There was a song. I remember NOTHING about it... help?

Well, Mrr, I tried the Opies, and they couldn't help on this one. I checked their Singing Game and Children's Games with Things. No luck.

Mrrzy, we sometimes played a version of tick where, if IT got you, you joined hands with IT to form a twosome, then a threesome: ended up with a line of 10 or 12 trying to tick the last few.

But we never played with lots of separate ITs, as you describe. Sounds really weird.

We also used to have variations like Ball Tick or Ticky-off-ground, but I don't remember songs for any of them (apart from "What time is it Mr Wolf?", but that was only a chant rather than a song).

WassaiL! V

The nice thing about our way is that you don't KNOW who's it after the first few minutes. ALso, Joe, I assume it was you or your clone, but why did you change the name of the thread? I'm going to get different people answering than I was trawling for...

Hi, Mrr - You say "Yellow Fever" is a game with a song, so it doesn't fall in the "BS" category. Some people filter out the "BS" threads, so I remove the BS designation if it's on music-related threads. Pene and I will delete or change the thread designator if it's inappropriate, and we'll add to thread titles for clarification - but we generally leave the basic title intact so people can find it.
Also, Mrr, you said this was a game you played as a kid. I could be tempted to say something that at your age, ANYTHING you did as a child could be considered folklore.
But I don't know how old you are, so I guess I can't say that...

I remember playing a game very like the one you describe. In our version whoever was IT had to catch and touch the top of another persons head for them to be IT too. This went on until the playground was full of ITs and only one quarry was left to catch. We called the game "TEE-ACK" but I've no idea of it's origins, nor do I remember a song. I do remember all the children chanting "TEE-ACK,TEE-ACK," as they chased their target and I recall that the game could get quite rough at times.
