Subject: RE: meter/solfege for kid songs From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 05 Mar 14 - 09:40 PM Hi, Amy. You have my deepest sympathy. I've been trying to think of some chant or game we did as kids that's in triple meter, and I can't think of one. And mixylodian mode? give me a break! But I can think of a chant that would qualify as irregular. It was a jump rope rhyme, and I'll send in a MIDI so you can hear the timing of it. The words were: How to spell........ Mississippi! Capital M! I! crooked letter, crooked letter I! (repeat) humpback, humpback I! ("crooked letter' means S, and 'humpback' is P) the MIDI is more tuneful than what we chanted, but don't tell your teacher.

Subject: RE: meter/solfege for kid songs From: GUEST,amy Date: 01 May 02 - 09:47 PM I need to find two chants in triple meter and two chants in unusual meter. I also need to find one song in mixolydian. It is for a Music Methods for Elementary teachers course and I have had a hard time locating these things on the internet and textbooks. Does anybody know any children's chants in triple or unusual meter? How about a song in mixolydian? I am not picky on what song/chant it is, is long as it is appropriate for children. Thank you! |
