Subject: RE: the byne hill From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 02 May 02 - 08:08 PM I've never heard of it. However.... I found that there is a web-site for Girvan. On it, they mention a folk festival and link to it. Here's the site: There they have a message board. Perhaps someone there might know of it? |

Subject: RE: the byne hill From: Scabby Douglas Date: 03 May 02 - 04:44 AM Hello... Yes. The Byne Hill is a couple of miles south of Girvan. We used to holiday in Girvan when I was a boy, and on a couple of occasions, we'd walk as a family out and walk up the hill. I'll check this out soon, but I believe the hill is maybe about 1000 ft high. It's a good stiff walk, but must have been manageable for a 10-year-old, and 8-year-old. From memory, it's a long slow slope to start with. The other thing is that because the flat ground providing access to the hill sweeps right down to sea level, you climb every foot of it I'll be down in Girvan tomorrow - for the Folk Festival, so I might ask about the song. Cheers

Subject: RE: the byne hill From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 19 May 02 - 12:20 AM Well, it doesn't look like the person requesting the song posted a message on the Girvan Folk Festival's MEssage Board. I should think the person might want to try that out. I'm sure someone there would know, if it's that close to the hill in question. There is another link for the Girvan Folk Club, with an e-mail contact at :girvanfolkclub@aol.com |
