RANT ON

I can't believe I actually did these TWICE.

THEY ARE AWFUL!

There were no rude and mannerless people around at ALL. In fact people took care of themselves and helped out around here so much, I almost lost it a couple of times!

People brought so damn much food I won't get to cook, now that they have left it all in my spare fridge, ALL WEEK. I dunno what to do with the ()**()*() scrapple!

The whole house is unaturally clean. I can't even find any damn cracker crumbs or empty beer bottles lying around. And there's a recycling center out back I never saw before either! My husband is humming little ditties as he mows the lawn, and furthermore, there are too damn many notes lingering in the air!

Cripes, I learned so many new songs I'll have to find new places to sing them!

It's just not fair!

SOMETHING oughtta be done!

And that's just the HOSTESS view. I bet the people who came are even more upset about it than I am!

Of course it sucks, and you know what is worse? The effects LINGER!!! It's true! You eventually develop these masochistic tendencies which lead you to set yourself up for this kind of thing over and over again. Simple phrases like Mi casa su casa open the floodgates, and you are stuck with a neverending flow of good people. Unfortunately there is no cure, so like our Guest so eloquently said, you just have to suck up and deal.

yup - Neil - you are so much luckier to have had to deal with yard work - you could have been up all hours with fantastic food; great company and conversation; and nearly constant music.

The thought of having to force oneself to listen to a couple guitars and mandolins jamming on the tune while multiple voices harmonize on the verse when one could be pulling weeds in the garden, or mowing the lawn? Makes you cringe, doesn't it?

Heck - next thing you know someone will be forcing thousands of lyrics or mp3 files at you at these things

YES, IT'S TRUE!! Both MC Gathers I have been to sucked so bad.........the one in my backyard (Great Adventure) just lasted so late in the evening, the neighbors were showing up to listen and eat leftovers, the dogs kept blissing out under our chairs...in Cheyenne there was just too much music, too much beer and too much time to get to know all my good friends.

Looks like we'll all have to give Kat's housewarming Gather a Pure Pass............

Well be sure to steer clear of the Junebug XL MudGathering PA June 6-10-02, because I have a horrible feeling it may be our most unpleasant and unsavoury one yet.

For one thing it's likely to be overun with fireflies. And if I get the sitting pool set up, there are sure to be to be pruney-looking Catters wandering about drunkenly in the dark.

And it will be warm enough to use the FRONT porch for pickin', and who knows how that may draw passersby with disgusting and unusual musical interests.

I'd like to have a talk with whoever foisted this upon us!

Well, dummy, you could just not have these people come, and instead come to the Getaway!! Then all you would have to put up with is the endless laughter, good feelings, different music in every room, singing together until the sun comes up, co-ed showers, Kendall and Max snuggling together with come hither looks in their eyes (ROFLMAO), one of the most wonderful hosting organizations anywhere...................and then you could go home....................and plan for next year.

Yeah, because the people who GO to these kinds of things are relentless carriers spreading the disease. Pernicious Infectious Gatherosis. (Why do you think they insist on sitting in circles? To concentrate the airborne pathogens and make one another sicker and sicker and less resistant.) And as far as I know there is no gummint money going towards fighting it, either.

Look out when a Catter starts mumbling about pigging out. They're not kidding.

My fear is that my home may become the treatment center for THAT. I think some long-term-care residents are already planning to move in. It's like Lombosis-- always terminal, but never fatal. Suffering just goes on and on!

Well I'll tell you what SUCKS about some of these Toronto gatherings!

Big Jed and Big Mick doing dishes, making their beds, and being POIFECT gentlemen and house guests......really puts the pressure on yours truly!

Jeri fitting in so seamlessly that two days after she arrives yer convinced she's been part of the family for years!

Alan and Bill S. busting through the back door as if they've just come from next door rather than from different countries and continents!

Ian and Sam P. pickin' and grinnin' like they might on a Yorkshire evening.

Pam and Dave Swan, Willie-o, Catspaw and Karen, and a bunch of others driving hellish distances just for a visit! Believe me, it's a humbling experience!

My best memory is STILL that of Big Mick (on chair) sinking slowly into Heather's garden, while holding his Guild high for safety.....hell we couldn't even pry it from his cold undead hands!
