Subject: RE: Help: 'Liscarroll': 70s folk band From: Ross Campbell Date: 07 Aug 11 - 08:27 AM Saw Liscarrol at Lytham Cricket Club when Dave Walters was running the Sunday night folk club there (and I seem to remember at Preston Folk Club the night after?). Great sound. I picked up the Fungus album later. Any info on what the other band members were involved with after Liscarrol? Ross |

Subject: 'Liscarroll': 70s folk band From: Steve Parkes Date: 08 May 02 - 03:51 AM I was going through my old tapes the other day, and I have a recording of a band called Liscarroll from about 1975, made at the Fitter's Arms in Walsall. I remember there were three lads: an Englishman, a Frenchman and a Dutchman (and if ayone has a good punchline, let me know!); the Dutch guy was Rens van der Zalm, who was later in Fungus, Mozaik and toured with Andy Irvine. I think the English guy was Mick ... or not; he was from Cheshire and used to sing a version of "Frog Went A-courting". And I can't remember the French chap's name at all. They all played fiddle, and there was a guitar, an accordion, a Belgian bagpipe and a hurdy-gurdy in various combinations. Anyone know any more? Steve |
