Subject: Gwen Sale RIP From: michaelr Date: 11 May 02 - 03:02 PM Just got this sad news from the Cittern newsgroup. Gwen Sale, wife of guitarist Dennis Cahill who has been fiddler Martin Hayes' long-time touring partner, has died. Gwen Sale was not only Dennis' wife but a very talented artist. She had toured with Lord of the Dance as a fiddler, and her graphic art work can be seen on Niamh Parson's latest album "Heart's Desire", on the Green Linnet Label, an album which Dennis plays on and also produced. The story is that Gwen had been working out in the gym, had called Dennis on the cell phone and five minutes later she was hit by a car in Chicago. By all accounts she was a charming lady. Her remains are heading back to Scotland for a family burial. My heartfelt condolences go out to Dennis, Martin, and Gwen's family. Michael |
Subject: RE: OBIT: Gwen Sale RIP From: Amos Date: 11 May 02 - 03:10 PM I find it inordinately sad that anyone who played fiddle and brought music into the world should exit so unexpectedly and suddenly; and that there should be such a talent in the world who had to leave before I got to meet her! Can I add my condolences, stranger though I am, for a passage which should not have happened? A |
Subject: RE: OBIT: Gwen Sale RIP From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 11 May 02 - 05:29 PM That is very unfortunate. Out of sheer curiosity, is this person any relation to Abby Sale who shows up here on occasion? I believe Abby is in Florida. |
Subject: RE: OBIT: Gwen Sale RIP From: Art Thieme Date: 11 May 02 - 10:35 PM George, I wondered about that as well. This is just very sad. Chicago has had days of cold blowing and bone-chilling rain in recent days. For some reason I'm left wondering if this was a contributing factor. My condolences to all involved. Art |
Subject: RE: OBIT: Gwen Sale RIP From: GUEST,Gwen's mum in Scotland. Date: 25 Apr 10 - 10:15 AM As we approach the 8th Anniversary of my beautiful daughter's passing on 8th May, I wish to thank all who knew and loved her. I feel she looks through my eyes as I watch her older son, Oliver, my first grandchild, as he plays his pipes as passionately as his Mum played the fiddle. There is little chance that Gwen is 'Resting in Peace'. I just feel very sorry for those in the next dimension who don't like Irish fiddle music! Do rest assured that a warm Celtic welcome awaits anyone who knew her and is visiting Scotland, both here in the City of Glasgow and in her village home of Penpont where her ashes continue to dance on the top of the hill. Keep her alive in your memories and stories of her. As will I. Peace and Love...Maggi Sale mesale@msn.com |
