Subject: Assist on mysterious code 30312 From: Greycap Date: 13 May 02 - 01:28 PM For UK 'catters only. I keep getting junk postal mail with the numeral '30312' next to my name and address. Not even the Post Office will help me with the origin of this - is it a database? Who owns it? How do I get off it? Any help gratefully accepted - thanks in advance. |

Subject: RE: BS: Assist on mysterious code 30312 From: Nigel Parsons Date: 13 May 02 - 01:47 PM The Post Office (or Consignia) should be able to help; these five digit codes are used by companies who use "Mailsort" for originating their 'Junk mail', also other firms will show the same code. This is a method of sending post at a reduced postal rate by having it pre-sorted by computer. Check the address on your bank statement or credit card statement, it will probably show the same. This is a national system, similar to the postcode. At least, this is my understanding! Nigel |
