I'm boppin' around my living room getting ready for band rehearsal, with Galaxy playing in the background... (Galaxy is one of the digital TV music providers)

This guy with a song called "This One's The Dreamer" comes on and I holler to herself, "Hey! Rick Fielding's on the TV"

"Tell him to get off, he's gonna break it" was her response...

Give her a big hand folks...

Hmmmmmm...broadcast range eh? Haven't got a clue. I DO know some verrry strange things happen though. For years I used to get a pittance from South Africa, and even somewhere in South America......so SOMEONE'S got the reecords!

Galaxy is the cogeco cable version of the music 800s channels of DTV, up here in Canada.

I dont have digital cable, damn I wish I was over at his place.

Thanks, Steve. Sounds like even if we had digital cable we wouldn't get the Canadian version. Rick, does this mean you have a music video floating around someplace that your adoring Stateside fans haven't seen? Can it be shown via the elves & faeries over the internet?

pj, I think it is just audio, at least that is what our cable music channels were, when we had cable. A screen pops up when each new piece starts, identifying the piece, composer, and artist, then the screen goes black until the next one.

Reminds me of last year - just about this time - as I'm driving through this little Texas town (little for Texas - about 20 times the size of the town I live in)- hunting for this place I was told "you can't miss" -

figgered out I had the right place as I slowed down and heard "This One's the Dreamer" playing on the loudspeakers.

Well...maybe if it's just a one-time thing we can let him off...maybe.

But if he's started appearing in an ongoing music series, like the Partridge Family or the Monkees or Hee-Haw, he's finished! :-)

Rick has done a music video. He told me about it several years ago and I no longer remember any of the details. It wasn't for MTV or VH1, but for another one of the channels that I had always kind of associated with hard rock at the time....For the life of me I can't recall their name right now......maybe it was "Much"??? Anyway, I don't recall the song either and the only thing I do remember was that it was shot in either his or his neighbor's yard and there was a story that went along with it.

Galaxy is a digital music service with 30 different channels, including a folk-roots chhanel, that is available on all digital cable and sattelite services in Canada.

Cogeco is just one of several services in Canada that carry Galaxy. Galaxy is owned by the CBC.

I've seen Rick's video. The three best parts are (1) where the dancers gyrate around the totem pole swathed in dry ice; (2) Rick, wearing one of those oversize cowboy hats drives across the desert in the convertible passing Shania Twain, who looks wistfully after him; and (3) where he sits in the abandoned country house, the curtains swaying as he picks up a busted picture of little Corinna and the camera dissolves to the three of them in happier times. It is hard to pack it into one video, but he did it. A must see.

Someone as great as the great Bob Rabinovitch, head of the CBC, would naturally have heard of reruns. I mean, shheeeit, thats pretty much CBC's daily programming schedule.

If it isn't a rerun of Coronation Street, its some rerun of an American show.

I got involved with a BIZARRE project a while ago. Sang three or four songs for the TV camera, with a blank white background. The producer asked me to change clothes (sort of) for each song. The clips were cut up and background scenes were added afterwards. About a year later, I saw one of these (can't remember where, but it wasn't Canada) and there I was singing with a WATERFALL in the background! The checks didn't bounce and it's still better than playing Jukebox at a Bar Mitzvah....but it was a weird feeling.
