hey! I hope this isin't thought to be spam.. This is an invitation to any "blues outcasts" out there that might be reading this. You know, any one who doesn't fit the mold? I just started a new forum at the address linked below and I hope anyone interested will check it out. Thanks!

Can you say more of what exactly a "blues outcast" is? The Blues have been around long enough that most of the molds have been cracked or discarded. When pale white girls from North of the Mason-Dixon line who speak without the slightest hint of a drawl can be considered "blues" then what mold is left?

Didn't see no link neither.

Alex

Alex,

You cain't hardly get no more casted out than not havin' a URL, now can ya?

(Also, I think the mold only grows on the pallorous north side of the aforementioned pale white girls from above the Mason-Dixon... Something we were taught in Boy Scouts, if I remember correctly.)

oops! sorry bout' that. http://pub42.bravenet.com/forum/show.php?usernum=3584603709

Alex, I'm afraid pale white girls North of the Mason-Dixon line are *very* seldom regarded as blues artists by other blues artists. (least round' here) any kind of respect from your peers when you are anything out of the ordinary: especially young players and women as you mentioned, is more often then not, like squeezing blood from a radish. The forum's for anyone who wants to talk Blues without being criticized… I'm going to make a post about that actually later today, if you want to chat about it. Peace --Vibrablues

V'blues -- if you think "The forum's for anyone who wants to talk Blues without being criticized" I think you should do a little more exploring around here. The M'cat indeed welcomes anyone who wants to talk blues, but if you think you're not going to be criticized, well.....

That's actually one of the best things about this place. If you say something that's crap, somebody will definitely give you a second (and third, fourth, etc.) opinion.

Love the blues myself. Welcome to Mudcat.

cheers,

david

Reality check time. Very little discussion of blues music takes place at Mudcat. Good on ya for having the chutzpah to start a new forum, and for having the courage to let people here know about it. I'm sure you were aware that you would be criticized for advertising what likely will be considered by many here to be "competition" to Mudcat. Many members feel tremendously threatened by anyone they perceive as being competition to this forum.

So very good luck with your forum. I know just what you are talking about in terms of certain blues artists being ostracized by the mainstream blues community. It is always good to provide an alternative. I doubt you meant that people wouldn't discuss the music critically. I'm guessing (and interpreted your message to mean) what you meant is that in the new forum, blues lovers who aren't mainstream, conventional blues lovers, will be welcomed rather than haughtily scorned. I'm with you 111%!

Good luck.
