Thanks, Q. Same plant I know as bleeding heart - and a favorite of mine. Now I will have to go and rip a blossom apart come spring while spending the winter searching for rhymes and folklore about it.

This is bleeding heart = lady in a bath, etc., the common garden plant-
Lamprocaprios spectabilis formerly Dicentra spectabilis

Not to get technical or non-musical, but can some one (LTS?) give the Latin name of the plant you are talking about so I can figure out if it is the same plant we call bleeding heart on this side of the pond?

did you ever figure this out? I have been looking for this for years! I remember as a child pulling the flowers apart to a saying- but cannot for the life of me remember what it was!

Yes, LTS, the flower is also known lady in the bath because when the petals are teased apart the insides pop up and look like a tiny woman bathing. But apparently there's a rhyme that goes with the other name.

Anyone know the rhyme that accompanies the pulling apart of the bleeding heart flower to illustrate its component parts? I've been net surfin' for days looking for this -- Catters are always good at finding stuff where other methods fail ;o)
