If you are in Yorkshire, UK please keep a look-out for such things being offered for sale, initially, you may contact me astheir computer access is not working just now. many thanks, Micca

Hi Micca & Jezabel

I will keep a close look out, some tips first though if you have not done this already..

1 - TELL THE MUSIC ROOM they are likley to be sold second hand and that is a good place to start.

2 - Tell Pools corner in hull another second hand store down princess ave & the cash convertor in Hull.

3 - TELL THE POLICE!!!

4 - Tell the cash convertor in Selby

I will keep a close eye out for the instruments, lets hope we can find them again, come on now catters keep an eye out!

The good thing is that there are not a lot of Pigini accordions about this area and that the only dealer in them is 'the music room' which narrows the find for it as they operate manly in the folk world.

If you see a pigini in any store other than 'the music room' the likley hood it will be jezabels, any private sale of a pigini should be looked upon as a possibility that it is Jezabels.

I will keep an eye out on this thread to see what we can do. I am also going to put it out on bigsession.

Cheers, Sam

If there is a shop called Cash Converter in the area tell them.
In Yeovil recently musical instuments turned up in their store the same day they were stolen.

On behalf of Cat and Jez thank you all for looking out for these items. Cat was at my place at the time of the break in, if only we had set off to take her home a bit earlier!!!! IF ONLY.

Its not just the fact that the instrument were taken, its knowing their space has been invaded, they didn't get much sleep last night. The B******S even let the girls young cats out !!

As Micca said the girls 'puter is down, so if you have any info on the instruments please pm me and I will pass messages on to them.

Mrs C

Sadly, posting here is a bit of a clue to would-be thieves.
Who's going to be at .... is telling them. If they know what they're pinching they know how to suss it out!
I hang my Bodhrans on the wall. I fully expect a burglar to break-in and leave a third!

My comiserations to the girls. Of all my belongings it would be the loss of my musical instruments that would pain me most. Hope they are recovered soon and without damage.

I had my place burgled a few years ago, and know just how devastating this can be. So i completely sympathise. I lost most of my instruments, which lucky for me not only turned up in a local secondhand store, but got the thief convicted. So i hope you have that good luck.

Micca/JeZeBeL/CatsPhiddle

My 19 year old Daughter Jane got mugged on her way to work last week. They got her mobile phone, handbag, and even took the glasses off her face.

She's okay now, and even managed to draw some blood from the only female out of four attackers. (The three blokes stood by without actually contributing to the crime.)

I took the liberty of placing a small curse on the unholy quartet.

They should soon be waking up with their livers on the pillow beside them.

Don't you think there is a definite sub-species emerging?

With a bit of luck the persons responsible will spend the proceeds on nasty drugs and be dead within the next couple of years. (Natural selection at its best!)

This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me during my time as a Dad, but its made Jane a damn lot stronger.

The Police were absolutely brilliant, they were there within 15 minutes, and took her all around the area where it happened in an attempt to find the gits responsible, (Urmston, Manchester, U.K.)

She then took over 2 hours making a statement because the Police said they wanted to do everything they could to nail the bastards.

One of the Coppers gave her his mobile number and told her to ring him if she saw any one of them again.

I hope they find these miscreants before I do.

My thoughts are with you, but I am at a loss to understand what makes people behave like this in the first place.....

Best wishes,

Ian.

P.S. If its any consolation, what goes round will certainly come around.

Really sorry to here this, I will look in Pools Corner tommorow, and kep an eye on the musical instruments section of the Hull Daily Mail, I also know a few coppers in Hull, (I work for Humberside Police), so I will pass the word around. Here are the phone numbers of Pools Corner-01482 440024, and Cash converters-01482 223905, it might be worth phoning them both with a description of the instruments, check the local newspaper (Selby Advertiser?) and also look at your local car boot sale, as stolen property often turns up there.I really hope you get your stuff back, and the burglars that took it rot in hell.john

Really bad news (both the instruments and the mugging)...

John in Hull had started a thread in the Annexe on general support lines for people who may need help of all sorts. Not saying it's needed here but Pip, my mum mentioned victim support who she works for as a volunteer. I'll just point you to the post.

Thanks for the link Jon, I had just been to the Annexe looking for their phone number, I know that in Hull they can give practical help in fitting new locks etc, I am not sure if that applies nationwide, but it is worth phoning them to see, also contact your local CPO, his number will be in the book.

You'ld think by the law of averages you'ld occasionally run into your old stolen instruments later on: I've lost two fine acoustic guitars over the years, both very distinctive, and I always think I'll run into them again, but it's never happened. Anyone ever been reunited with an old friend like that?

Jez, It might be an idea to put an advert in the musical instruments wanted section in the local free ads yellow papers and just see what contacts you get.

Have they got any photos of the instruments, &/or the owners playing them? I don't know my accordions but Piaggio sounds a bit less common so it will be hard to offload just anywhere.
When I was burgled I had a laptop in a safe, in 1985! Loose cash was left also. AND I had a shrewed idea who, local man with form.
Fortunately I didn't find anything of consequence stolen but they don't leave it neat & tidy and I know women who say they felt unclean & have had to wash all their underwear again and still feel despoiled. That to me would be the worst. Men are more likely to be aggressive to the perpetrator. The physical items often can be replaced (p'raps not their associations).

Thanks everyone for all your advice.

The burglers broke in through a back window breaking the frame in the process and opening the back door which only had a yale lock on it. (the landlord has been round and sealed off the door and window) They let the cats out (they are indoor cats) now the cats are nervous and have upset stomachs, poor things.

They took various things including Jez's accordian, trumpet, my stereo and a necklace. They left the rest of the jewellry, tv's video and my rather expensive collection of violins which Mr and Mrs Cobble are kindly looking after for me at the moment.

Apart from the mess they have left and the upset of losing the instruments we are nervous about being in the house. We live in a tiny village which has virtually no crime and it has been such a shock.

The police came round took statements and finger prints but apart from our finger prints the ones they found were not good enough. Hopefully the instruments will turn up. We are in the process of visiting various shops.

GUEST....... do you own any instruments??? Yes instruments can be replaced but they are expensive. We musicians are rather attatched to our instruments are and get VERY upset if anything happens to them.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice and support, especially Micca, Mrs Cobble for sitting with us into the small hours of Friday morning and Tig and Badger for their help at silly o clock in the morning.

Hi

Well I have just been into the cash convertor in Doncaster and put the word about ALL the secoand hand type shops selling instruments, no pigini yet.

I am also going to telephone a friends of mine both in the Hull Piano accordion Clubs & Bradford accordion clubs. I will try and get you an advertisement in the accordion newsletters.

Cheers, sam

I could not get the link to the stolen instruments list to work. Is this just a temporary problem or does anyone know of another list? A friend of mine had his fiddle stolen from the train at York recently (on the way to Ireland for the Fleadh Nua - not a very good start!). Obviously it's a lot more difficult to trace an instrument without a serial number, but if anyone sees a Stainer type fiddle, old blue fabric covered case with a leather repair to one of the strap anchor points, please send me a personal message on the Mudcat Thanks Lynn
