Poo! Silly goose that I am, I just looked at my calendar & realized that my second son in a row has high school graduation smack dab in the middle of the Old Songs weekend! I will try to come up for Saturday pm into Sunday, although I'd rather be there the whole time!

I got the program and got very excited, and then found out that one of my music buddies is getting married that weekend. The pressure's on for the entire jam session to attend the wedding, so it looks like I'll miss old songs. I HATE it when this sort of stuff happens, and my brother's getting married the weekend of Champlain Festival.    Both couples have been living together for over 10 years. Can't these people just continue to live in sin? I ask you!

Official campsites?!?! What the heck can they do - mark out tent-sized blocks with chalk? Silly idea. I wonder how the "Hey I got a spot by the back wall - wanna trade? There's a bunch of Woodchucks over there, scratching out tiny little doors in the chalk lines and their sites seem to be coagulating. I'm scared." or "I'll trade two campsites and a six-pack of Sam Adams for your spot by the porta-poopers." Gonna be interesting.

I'm going because I always go ...and the lineup looks GREAT!

Things are mostly packed. I'll plan to stuff some stuffed grape leaves, sweet potato fritters, kahlua cookies and other odds and ends in the cooler with some Trout River (properly pronounced "trayout Riveh" and will hit the road around noon. See you all round abou 3:30 (or 5 if Pam and I do our usual forgetting, false starting, etc.) I am VERY excited!!

Cooler space is a function of how fast the stuff we bring in the coolers gets consumed. This year we have extra help. Should not be a major problem.

I should relate that "YoungChuck" gave an inventory of what equipment he was bringing (coming by plane, he had to be selective). He included a mechanical liver.

His older sister, who is coming to her first Old Songs (dare I say..."DocChuck?") insisted that there was no such thing, and that if there were, her patients would be much happier.

Her brother's response was: "I invented one, but the patent lawyers said they couldn't help me because it was just a beer can with a whistle glued to it." Barry, maybe you should try to talk the whole thing over with both of them.

And that's what the weekend is going to be like.

Is anyone planning on any late night sessions. Maybe it's me but it seems that the shades keep getting pulled eariler as time goes by. I'm getting to feel like a lonely lost soul doomed to wander the camp sites for music till the rising sun never being able to get more than a fleeting note out of the devil. Oh, I'm not ashamed of my 'Chuckhood... Of course, I mostly lurk on the Mudcat as a way to keep tabs on my aging father, and see what sort of trouble he's getting himself into. So far his presance here seems to be mostly benign and usually contributory, with only the occasional fight-provoking inflammatory statements. Which is far better than the Internet average, so we're proud enough.

the real issue is that usually my browsing time is limited at work, and I rarely feel like looking at a computer at home...

I met a number of you at Old Songs last year, look forward to meeting more this year - my plane leaves in just over 20 hours...

"Youngchuck" man, I hope that doesn't stick...
